We have seen dozens of innocent lives needlessly taken in the name of “justice”. But sometimes things aren't always as “black and white” as we want to see them.
Are there instances of police overreaching their authority and using excessive force during confrontations with civilians, black and white? Of course, there's no doubt there are verifiable cases where this has happened.
Are there instances where the police were justifiably using force to protect themselves or others, and yet are accused of abusing their power? Yes, without a doubt. But as Christians, we shouldn't be looking at which side to join based on emotions or who is on whose side.
We should be looking to Jesus Christ as our example of how we should respond to situations like the one we find ourselves in today. And Jesus gave us a perfect example. He laid down his own life, not for black people or white people, not for Jews or Gentiles, but for ALL people.
Because All Lives Matter.
