New year and same old Veterans administration

Update from the office of Mississippi Congressman Steven Palazzo

Veterans
Over the past two years, new reports have continued to surface that further prove the culture of corruption that is alive within the VA Hospitals.

Recently it has been discovered that the VA is paying millions of tax-payer dollars to employees who are on paid leave due to pending investigations into their malpractice, some of these employees are on paid leave for long periods of time and it cost taxpayers more than $23 million in 2014 alone.

Employees who have committed malpractice should be fired, not placed on paid leave at the expense of the taxpayers.
The VA has also recently come under fire due to a new report by the Inspector General’s office which reveals the VA’s Crisis Hotline has sent a number of callers to voicemail. The hotline claims to be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

However, a report released February 11th confirms the claims made by callers who said they had been placed on hold for long periods of time or their call had been routed to voicemail when attempting to use the hotline.

Our Veterans deserve far better than the negligence and corruption that has become so apparent within the VA. This sort of behavior by the VA cannot and will not be tolerated.

South Mississippi
I had a great afternoon in the city of Picayune on Tuesday! I attended the Rotary Club meeting and also met with city officials.

Welcoming Mac Large
I’d like to congratulate my Legislative Director Patrick and his wife Lisa on becoming new parents last weekend! McKinney “Mac” Michael Large was born Sunday, February 14th, weighing a healthy 9lbs and measuring 21 inches long.

Welcome to the team Mac!
