Congressman Palazzo: Your 2nd Amendment

Meet Mississippi Congressman Steve Palazzo
Last week in the Appropriations Committee we passed the Fiscal Year 2017 Homeland Security bill. This bill makes an incredibly strong investment in the defense of our country here at home.

Not only does our legislation increase funds for border patrol and the Coast Guard, but it contains no funds for the President’s unconstitutional executive action on immigration and blocks its implementation pending judicial action.

More importantly, Republicans on the Committee and I were successful in blocking a Democrat amendment to impose reckless gun control on the American people. We voted down an amendment by Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) that would have allowed the Attorney General to deny a firearm purchase without due process of law.

This liberal agenda item was yet another attempt to take guns away from law-abiding Americans without due process. The Appropriations Committee has become the last line of defense against these types of liberal moves to take away our freedoms.

I will always stand up for the Second Amendment on this committee, the House floor, or anywhere else liberal activists seek to take it away from us. The bill also provides funding toward disaster relief and emergency response activities through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

SERC-NAHRO Legislator of the Year

Last weekend I was honored to receive the 2016 “Legislator of the Year” award from the Southeastern Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (SERC-NAHRO) during their annual conference that took place at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi.

Many people probably don’t know that I actually worked at a public housing authority many lifetimes ago. I understand the struggles that face our PHA’s and that’s why I introduced legislation to help them.

My legislation provides local flexibility, deregulation and administrative reductions, all of which are crucial to the survival and sustainability of local housing authorities. We need less regulation on small housing authorities, not more.

We should put more faith in PHA's to do what is best for the safety and sustainability of the agency and the program, and most importantly, what’s best for the residents.

Your comments are always welcome and you can contact Congressman Palazzo on facebook, twitter or by visiting his website.

Benghazi - Everyone is going to die

Click Here to Visit Maggie at Maggies Notebook

Select Committee on Benghazi Press Secretary Matt Wolking released the following statement regarding Committee Democrats' so-called "report":

“Benghazi Committee Democrats’ obsession with the former Secretary of State is on full display. For over two years they refused to participate in the Majority’s serious, fact-centered investigation.

The dishonest Democrats on this committee falsely claimed everything had been ‘asked and answered.’ They said the committee had found ‘absolutely nothing new.’

If that’s changed, they should come clean and admit it. If not, everyone can ignore their rehashed, partisan talking points defending their endorsed candidate for president.

“As Chairman Gowdy has said, this is not about one person. This investigation is about the four brave Americans we lost in Libya: Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty.

That is how the Majority has conducted its thorough investigation, and we look forward to revealing the new information we have uncovered to the families and the American people.”

Democrats on the Committee are: Rep. Elijah Cummings, Rep. Adam Smith D-WA, Rep. Adam Schiff D-CA, Rep. Linda Sanchez D-CA,, Rep. Tammy Duckworth D-IL.

Committee Member Rep. Lynn Westmoreland in a press release dated June 10, 2016, said not a single Democrat on the Committee showed up "to hear what these two service members had to say about their service to our country on the night of the Benghazi attacks,” and "none of the five Benghazi Committee Democrats showed up for either of yesterday’s interviews with drone sensor operators from the time of the attacks, including “John from Iowa."

In this morning's press conference, we were told that the granularity of the drone flying over the Benghazi compound and filming at the time of the attack was not sufficient quality to be helpful.

Katherine Herridige on Fox is reporting this minute that Obama has refused to answer the Committee's questions about the Benghazi Diplomatic Mission hosting a gunrunning operation.

In the second video below, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said: "Don't forget the context. Libya was supposed to be the crowning jewel of the Clinton, State Department Foreign Policy and the Obama adminsitration Foreign Policy: This was their example of how it works: No boots on the ground, ousted dictator, healthy Arab Spring, this is how it works.

See the videos at Maggie's website.

One Diplomatic Security Advisor went to Benghazi, came back and said: "It's a suicide mission. Everybody there is going to die."

Expel all toxic people from your life

Statistics of relationship abuse and the diverse reasons why it is growing, are not easily defined. Teen suicide, drugs and alcoholism, children born out of wedlock, abortions for birth control, and cultural and intellectual dropouts are all signs of growing social problems.

Amazingly, Government-run programs designed to impede the acceleration of these tribulations are now blamed for much of the escalation, as the irresponsibility for one's own actions are justified, and actually promoted by government intervention.

All families, including our own, suffer from this toxicity, and it is growing more prevalent in a society of weak family values, diminishing ideologies, and emotional vacancy.

One can recognize a toxic person, and even see elements of it in themselves.

Here are several books that can help you cope, and to deal with this amazingly frustrating and painful problem.
• The Power of Purpose: Creating Meaning in Your Life and Work by Richard J. Leider, Berrett-Koehler Publishers 1997.
• The Rookie’s Playbook: Insights and Dirt for New Principals by Autumn Tooms, Rowland and Littlefield 2005.
• I Thought I Was the Crazy One: 201 Ways to identify and Deal with Toxic People by Ruthie O. Grant, Personhood Press 2003.
• Emotional Vampires: Dealing with People Who Drain You Dry by Albert J. Bernstein, Ph.D. McGraw-Hill Professional 2002.
Toxic people seem to suffer, primarily, from low self-esteem, though it might be both promoted and perceived to be just the opposite. They try to project their lack of confidence onto others in order to disguise their own shortcomings and failings. Some of the common dysfunctional personalities fall into these categories, as shown below . . . More

Toxic family and friends should be expelled from your life, for your own good from Ken LaRive at the Facets website

Brexit’s energy lesson for California, et al

“California’s largest utility and environmental groups announced a deal Tuesday [June 21] to shutter the last nuclear power plant in the state.”

This statement from the Associated Press reporting about the announced closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant should startle you. The news about shutting down California’s last operating nuclear power plant, especially after Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG and E) had sought a 20-year extension of the operating licenses for the two reactors, is disappointing—not startling.

What should pique your ire is that the “negotiated proposal,” as the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) called it, is between the utility company and environmental groups—with no mention of the regulators elected to insure that consumers have efficient, effective and economical electricity.

Who put the environmental groups in charge? Not the California voters. But unelected environmental groups—and their bureaucratic friends in various government agencies—have been dictating energy policy for the most of the past decade.

Regarding the “negotiated proposal,” WSJ points out: “The agreement wades deeply into intricate energy procurement, environmental and rate-setting matters that are normally the exclusive jurisdiction of state agencies.”

California has a goal of generating half of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and environmental groups are calling for the state officials to replace Diablo’s generating capacity with “renewable power sources.” Realize that this one nuclear power plant provides twice as much electricity as all of California’s solar panels combined.

Bloomberg Intelligence analysts’ research concluded that PG and E “would need 10,500 megawatts of new solar installations to replace all of Diablo Canyon’s output” and that, without including potential costs of new transmission lines or back-up resources for solar, will cost $15 billion—with totals, including decommissioning, estimated at $20 billion.

The Bloomberg report states: “PG and E will ask that customers make up any shortfall.”

Actual costs, Bloomberg says: “could be lower because the company expects to compensate for lower demand and replace only part of the production.” Why will there be lower demand? The WSJ explains: “the plan calls for new power sources to furnish only a portion of the electricity that Diablo Canyon generates, assuming that greater energy efficiency in the future will also curb some power demand.”

All of this is announced while California is experiencing, and expecting more, blackouts due to “a record demand for energy” and because “there just aren’t enough gas pipelines for what’s needed,” according to CNN Money.

“Southern California,” reports WSJ, “is vulnerable to energy disruptions because it relies on a complex web of electric transmission lines, gas pipelines and gas storage facilities—all running like clockwork—to get enough electricity. If any piece is disabled, it can mean electricity shortages. Gas is the state’s chief fuel for power generation, not coal.

But the pipelines can only bring in about 3 billion cubic feet of working gas a day into Southern California, below the daily demand, which gets as high as 5.7 billion cubic feet.”

California’s Independent System Operator, which runs the state’s power grid, therefore, has warned of “significant risk” that there may not be enough natural gas which could result in “outages for as many as 14 summer days.”

CNN Money reports: “Natural gas has played a bigger role for California as the state has tried to phase out coal and nuclear power”—environmental groups oppose the use of all of these three power sources.

It is expected that Diablo Canyon’s generating capacity will, in part, be replaced with more natural gas—which is good news for fracking. Eric Schmitt, vice president of operations for the California Independent System Operator, said: “California needs more flexibility in how it generates power so it can balance fluctuating output from wind and solar projects. Gas plants can be turned off and on quickly.”

As coal-fueled electricity has been outlawed in California, and environmental groups have pushed to close nuclear power plants, and routinely block any new proposed natural gas pipelines, black outs will become frequent. California’s energy demand doesn’t match solar power’s production.

This dilemma makes “energy efficiency” a key component of the environmental groups’ decrees—which parallels the European Union’s (EU) policies that were a part of Britain’s “exit” decision (known as “Brexit”).

When the EU’s energy efficiency standards for small appliances were first proposed, then German EU energy commissioner, Gunther Oettinger, according to the Telegraph, said: “All EU countries agree energy efficiency is the most effective method to reduce energy consumption and dependence on imports and to improve the climate.

Therefore there needs to be mandatory consumption limits for small electrical appliances.” In 2014, the EU, in the name of energy efficiency, sparked public outcry in Britain when it banned powerful vacuum cleaners with motors above 1600 watts. It then proposed to “ban high powered kettles and toasters” as part of the “Eco-design Directive” aimed at reducing the energy consumption of products.

The EU’s Eco-design Directive’s specific requirements are to be published as “Implementing Measures”—which, according to Conformance.co.uk, are made “as European Law Commission Regulations.” It explains that this process allows the directives to “enter into force in all the member states without requiring a transcription process in their National Law. Thus they can be issued much more quickly than the usual Directive Process.”

When the EU’s high-powered toaster/tea-kettle ban was announced, it became “a lightning rod for public anger at perceived meddling by Brussels”—which was seen as “intruding too much into citizens’ daily lives.” When the ban was announced, retailers reported a spike, as high as 95 percent, in toaster and electric tea-kettle sales.

The European overreach became such ammunition in Britain’s Brexit referendum, that Brussels stalled the ban until after the election and engaged in a now-failed public relations exercise with “green campaigners” to speak out in favor of the toaster and tea-kettle regulations that were believed to have “considerable energy saving potential.”

The Brits didn’t buy it. It is reported that top of the list for “leave” voters were “EU Rules and Regulations.” Matthew Elliot, chief executive of the Vote Leave campaign said: “If we vote remain we will be powerless to prevent an avalanche of EU regulations that Brussels is delaying until after the referendum.”

Brussels’ toaster and tea-kettle ban, which were perceived as an assault on the British staples, has been called “bonkers” and “too barmy to be true.” Specifically addressing the ban, Elliot said: “The EU now interferes with so many aspects of our lives, from our breakfast to our borders.”

David Coburn, a UK Independence party MEP from Scotland, who recently bought a new toaster and tea kettle grumbled: “I think I must have bought a euro-toaster, I have to put bread in it five times and it’s still pale and pasty. Perhaps it’s powered by windmills. And the kettle? Watching a kettle boil has never been so boring.”

While energy efficiency directives banning Keurig coffee makers would be more likely to draw similar ridicule from Californians, there is a lesson to be learned from the Brexit decision: too much regulation results in referendums to overturn them.

It is widely believed that, with Brexit and new leadership, many of the EU’s environmental regulations, including the Paris Climate Agreement, will be adjusted or abandoned.

More and more Americans are reaching the same conclusion as our British cousins about the overreach of rules and regulations. As Coburn concluded: “What we want is to let the free market reign, not this diktat by bureaucrat.”

ISIS beheads 4 year old girl

When ISIS soldiers overheard a mother telling her 4-year-old daughter that she needed to hurry and go home or her mother would "behead her if she didn't obey," they actually carried out the terrible act as reported by the US Herald.

After beheading the 4-year-old little girl, the ISIS soldiers cruelly made the mother wash her hands in her daughter's blood.

This unbelievable story happened in the ISIS capital of al-Raqqa in northern Syria. Bystanders who witnessed the murder barely escaped with their lives to tell this gruesome story. And now we need to do everything we can to share the terrible, bloody action of these Islamist terrorists.

According to the eyewitness, it was the fact that the young mother swore that she would behead her child if the child didn't hurry up. That swearing caused the ISIS terrorists to actually follow through with the murder.

"The scared mother refused to behead her daughter. The jihadist then slaughtered the little girl and forced the mother to soak her hands in her blood since she swore by God to do so," reported the witness, who barely escaped al-Raqqa with her life.

More firepower than the Marines

Federal civilian agencies are amassing guns and ammo by Jeff Jacoby at The Boston Globe

Not an Advertisement
America's gun culture has been a subject of intense interest and controversy for years, with concerns frequently raised about shadowy militias, paramilitary extremists, and unstable zealots in possession of alarming quantities of explosives and firearms.

Amid the current din over assault weapons and body armor, consider one domestic organization's fearsome arsenal of military-style equipment.

In the space of eight years, the group amassed a stockpile of pistols, shotguns, and semiautomatic rifles, along with ample supplies of ammunition, liquid explosives, gun scopes, and suppressors. In its cache as well are night-vision goggles, gas cannons, plus armored vests, drones, and surveillance equipment.

Between 2006 and 2014, this organization spent nearly $4.8 million to arm itself. Yet its aggressive weapons buildup has drawn almost no public attention.

Does all this firepower belong to a jihadist terror cell? A right-wing hate group? A vicious urban gang?

None of the above. It is the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, an agency of the US Department of Agriculture, that has built up such a formidable collection of munitions. And far from being an outlier, it is one of dozens of federal agencies that spends lavishly on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment.

A report issued this month by American Transparency, a nonpartisan watchdog that compiles data on public expenditures, chronicles the explosive — and expensive — trend toward militarizing federal agencies, most of which have no military responsibilities.

Between 2006 and 2014, the report shows, 67 federal bureaus, departments, offices, and services spent at least $1.48 billion on ammunition and materiel one might expect to find in the hands of SWAT teams, Special Forces soldiers — or terrorists.

The largest share of that spending has gone to traditional law enforcement agencies, such as the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the US Secret Service. But the arms race has metastasized to federal agencies with strictly regulatory or administrative functions.

The Internal Revenue Service, for example, now spends more than $1 million annually on firearms, ammunition, and military gear, double what it was spending a decade ago. Since 2006, the Department of Veterans Affairs — which has been sharply criticized for episodes of fatal incompetence in patient care — has poured nearly $11.7 million into guns and ammo.

Even the Smithsonian Institution and the Social Security Administration have each devoted hundreds of thousands of dollars to weaponry.

Incredibly, there are now fewer US Marines than there are officers at federal administrative agencies with the authority to carry weapons and make arrests. The soaring growth of this federal arsenal alarms Adam Andrzejewski, the head of American Transparency's OpenTheBooks.com, which researched and assembled the new report. "Just who," he asks, "are the feds planning to battle?"

Arguments long and loud about all the deadly firepower in the hands of private US citizens regularly engage liberals and conservatives. Far less notice has been paid to all the deadly firepower in the hands of federal bureaucrats.

"The government itself has become a gun show that never adjourns," remarks former US Senator Tom Coburn. Dozens of federal agencies — entities that will never be called on to fight foreign enemies — now pack heat at unprecedented levels. Perhaps that, too, is something Americans should be arguing about.

Gender identity surprises Washington parents

Click Here for the Full Article by Kelsey Harkness

Kaeley Triller Haver is no stranger to the transgender bathroom debate. After being sexually assaulted as a child and going public with her story, the single mom from Washington state now opposes shower, locker room, and bathroom policies that she believes leave her and her daughter vulnerable and unsafe.

So earlier this month, when she found out that Washington public schools quietly adopted a new set of health education standards that include teaching kindergartners about gender expression and identity, Triller Haver was shocked she wasn’t involved.

“The only way I found out was through a Facebook post,” Triller Haver told The Daily Signal. “Not really the way any parent should discover information this critically important to their child’s life.”

“The curriculum,” she said, “starts in kindergarten. And my daughter will be in kindergarten this year. So that’s great.”

The changes prompted an “outcry from thousands of parents across the state,” a spokesman for a conservative think tank says.

Washington adopted new gender identity guidelines in March as part of the state’s updated health and physical education standards. The state agency responsible for the guidelines said they were made available to the public for review, and provided The Daily Signal with examples where it solicited comment.

None, however, pointed to the addition of gender identity guidelines—instead referring to the proposal broadly as the state’s new “Physical Education Standards.”

Allen West on Islamic Terrorism

This is why the progressive socialist left doesn’t want to utter
the words Islamic jihadism, Islamic terrorism,
or Islamo-fascism.
I just have to ask, does the White House talking head, Josh “Not So” Earnest really believe the words he says? Or is this just a real bad case of brain farts? The latest to emanate from the oral orifice of Earnest just has to make you scratch your head. But it’s very apparent that the Obama White House is more comfortable attacking political enemies than the enemy actually killing Americans.

As reported by Real Clear Politics, “It is outrageous,” to claim that the president is “scared” to utter the words “radical Islamic terrorism,” WH spokesman Josh Earnest said on CNN’s ‘New Day’ Tuesday.

“The truth of the matter is, the individuals who spend most of their time talking about radical Islamic terrorism, are individuals like Republicans in the Senate, who would prevent those individuals from being able to buy a gun. And those are individuals who have not actually put forward their own strategy for keeping the country safe,” he said.

“Using the term ‘radical Islamic extremism’ is not a counter-terrorism strategy, it is a political talking point. Plain and simple. And what the president of the United States has done is to put forward a comprehensive strategy to squeeze the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, to inhibit their ability to recruit individuals around the world.”

“The president has implemented a strategy that has increased the pressure on ISIL and has made the country safer. He has not relied on a political talking point as a substitute for a counterterrorism strategy. Republicans in the Senate who like to talk have that luxury… The president does not have that luxury,” he said. “The president is focused on a strategy, you have Republicans in the Senate who are focused on a talking point.”

First of all, let me make one thing clear for Mr. Earnest. It is not the responsibility of the Senate Republicans to put forth a strategy for keeping the nation safe. That is the job of the president of the United States as the chief executive.

Congress develops legislation — uh, not the executive branch. The most important role of the president is commander-in-chief. So where does Earnest come off attacking Senate Republicans for not having a war strategy? And what delusional chucklehead would come out, after the second largest Islamic terror attack on America since 9-11, and state that our country is safer? Are you kidding me?

This is why the progressive socialist left doesn’t want to utter the words Islamic jihadism, Islamic terrorism, or Islamo-fascism. To do so would evidence their abject failure in keeping America safe.

Let’s be very clear here; after 9-11, the next three worst Islamic terrorist attacks have occurred on Barack Obama’s watch: Orlando, San Bernardino, and Ft. Hood. We also have nearly 1,000 open Islamic terrorist investigations being conducted by the FBI. Hello, McFly, is there anyone inside that little brain of yours? How could you even consider making such inane comments as you did representing the White House?

Defining the enemy is not a political talking point; it is a matter of strategic military decision-making, plain and simple. As I have stated and will reiterate, we fought against and defeated Nazism, fascism, Japanese imperialism, and communism.

The key to defeating the enemy is to understand their ideology, which gives you a comprehension of their goals and objectives. To obfuscate and deny identifying the enemy just means either you are dismissive or complicit in the actions of the enemy — doggone, perhaps if someone would tell Obama that Islamic jihadists are conservative that would draw his ire.

President Obama and his ilk have deceived themselves into believing that firing off a drone and killing a fella or two here or there is some great strategic victory. It’s reminiscent of President Lyndon Johnson approving bombing targets in Vietnam, the ultimate in micromanagement.

Josh Earnest says President Obama has “put forward a comprehensive strategy to . . . MORE

Dan Bongino for Congress - Florida

When I was in the Secret Service, here's what I saw with politicians:

They start to believe their own fairytales.

You may think you know just how out-of-touch these guys are, but I'm telling you folks - however big you think their egos are, take that amount, multiply it by 100, and maybe you'll hit close to the mark.

Now this ego problem wouldn't matter if government didn't hold so much power over our lives.

Look at Hollywood actors - no one would confuse them with a modest group of people. Like politicians, they also live in fantasyland. But lucky for us, actors don't have the power to write the tax code. They don't have the power to send us to war, ignore immigration laws or trample our personal liberties.

Politicians do. And that's exactly why they need a big, fat reality check.

So yup, there's a difference between the Hollywood elite and the Washington elite. Maybe not in brain power, but definitely in the power they have over your life and mine.

What these guys need - and what you deserve - is someone who's going to go to the House floor and say, "No, not today. We're just not doing it this way anymore."

It's time to fight the fantasy, folks.

Dan Bongino ~ Conservative Candidate for U.S. Congress (Florida - 19)

"America's Last Chance" on sale now

“This election may be America’s Last Chance to elect a real conservative or change agent
as President. If we fail to stop the deadly march of liberalism, the negative
consequences for America will be devastating.” ~ Jeff

The New York Times, NPR, Fox News and CNN have all listened to what political analyst Jeff Crouere has to say about American politics.

As host of the popular Ringside Politics radio and TV shows and the lively Ringside Politics with a Punch live events, Jeff listens to all sides of the big issues and asks a lot of hard questions.

After reading the writing on the wall, he’s come up with his own insights and authored this searing look at America’s advancing liberalism and moral decline.

In America’s Last Chance, Jeff offers an urgent and vital message to America, laying it all out clear that not just a change needs to be made at the top of the political system, but the right change.

He lays it all out with the cold, hard facts:

DEBT Our debt now exceeds $19 trillion and our once vibrant economy is stagnant with 94 million Americans outside of the workforce.

BORDERS According to the 2015 U.S. Census, there are now 15.7 million illegal aliens in the country and 61 million immigrants overall. This massive demographic change impacts our language, culture and customs.

TERRORISM Isis is causing havoc throughout the world and here in our country.

WEAK LEADERSHIP America desperately needs strong leadership and a new direction, not the same big government solutions which have created problems.

Underwater World: Liberals built that

Click Here - Grab That Morning Coffee and Check Out Branco Online

Okay, I’m hyperventilating. Tony combines beautiful drawings with biting politically incorrect wit and laugh out loud humor.” – Larry Elder – TV and Radio personality at at Fox News and KRLM AM 870

Lighten things up! Political discussions and debates don’t always have to be deep and long-winded arguments with points and counter points. Sometimes we just need to take a step back from it all and have a good laugh. With so many discouraging things happening in our country lately, that’s the only thing we can do to keep from crying.

Conservative artist Antonio Branco is a master at encapsulating deep and complex issues in a simple comic.

He has written his first book in a series and takes on a wide array of issues, from food stamps to global warming to foreign policy, Antonio isn’t afraid to say what he thinks.

Presented in a coffee table book style, this is the perfect conversation starter with friends and family that pick it up and start glancing through it’s pages.

Who knows, that liberal aunt of yours just might come over to the right side because of this book!

This 80 pages, hardcover comic measures 8″ x 10".

Not Trump’s Fault GOP Leaders Failed

Way back in the pre–Trump mists of time, former Texas Governor Rick Perry began his presidential comeback at the Gridiron Dinner where he described his 2012 campaign thusly, “The weakest Republican field in history — and they kicked my butt.”

Three and a half years later William Voegeli, senior editor of the Claremont Review of Books, points out, “Against a field of 16 contenders that George Will called the most talented since 1980, Trump beat them all.”

crazy-mitch-mcconnell-meme-one-third-term-president_1_So what does that say about Trump and the Republican Party?

Plenty according to a panel sponsored by the Claremont Institute that contained Voegeli, Claremont ROB editor Charles Kesler, Boston College professor Martha Bayles, NY GOP Senate Candidate Wendy Stone Long and the Ethics & Public Policy Center’s Peter Wehner.

I’ve always found it remarkable that a man who talks as much as Trump still remains largely inarticulate. His pronouncements require more interpretation than that of the Oracle at Delphi and the interpretations vary in intensity and favorability.

Fortunately the Claremont panel was up to the task.
