Amy Schumer: Our Sons and Margaret Thatcher

The first and only female prime minister of the UK, Margaret Thatcher, once infamously said "I owe nothing to feminism."

In the spirit of Thatcher, I'm passing on some advice to young men who are plagued by the feminist mindset every day, and I'm wondering what the heck is wrong with the wildly successful Amy Schumer, who is so distraught over her "body image" that she teared up and sniffled some about it with Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger.

There was a measure of faux humility, as well. Gawwwd, isn't it tiresome. Good grief sweetie, get over yourself.

Think about women with handicaps, those who cannot stand or bend to even to look downward at their bodies. Too ill or handicapped to rise each morning and apply the makeup it takes some energy to shop for.

A walk through Whole Foods? Nope can't do that either, and some very pretty women with beautiful bodies who cannot afford more than a stroll through the aisles of Wal-Mart. Think of the thousands of young girls and women with no hair.

Cancer took their hair. They'll get it back, maybe, if they live long enough. They might think about coveting your pretty braid, but it would be your full mobility and freedom they would yearn for, in the end. You know this. MS has touched your family. You are an MS activist. You are not 20 or 21-years-old.

You are 34-years-old. Think of the young women with all types of bodies who did not make it to that not-nearly ripe age through no fault of their own They didn't over imbibe. They snorted nothing. No Botox injections. Not a single Liposuction procedure. No tony hairdresser. Never been in a nail salon in their life.

Think about it before you step onto the next movie set after negotiating a nice contract, or are ushered to the best table in the best restaurants, or before you guest on Saturday Night Live where others will genuflect to your presence. All these things will happen, despite whatever's going on with your "body image," because you are the uber-talented Amy Schumer.

And it's all good –– your talent and all that –– except Amy, you whine, you cry about your body not being your perfect self. Not cool. Not cool at all.

Readers, if you have a son, a young, vulnerable, endearing guy –– maybe attending university, who will encounter a fair number of whiney, sobbing women with "body image" issues, start with the quote below and visit The Other McCain for more.

See Amy cry and see how thrilled she is that she and her sister have a personal shopper. For that, she is grateful! Maybe she won't feel compelled to skip her stand-up gig after all. Really –– she admits to it.
Trust me when I tell you this, young man. Do not ever imagine that you can evade a woman’s radar in terms of what she wants. ~ R.S. McCain
