GOP tells conservatives to 'Go to Hell'

By re-electing Boehner, the GOP tells the conservatives to "Go to Hell" from Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics on WLAE-TV 32 New Orleans

Catch the Jeff Crouere Show and Visit Ringside Politics

It happened again! Republican Party leaders told conservatives to “go to hell” in the latest indication that the GOP is controlled by establishment moderates. It is the only explanation for the infuriating vote to re-elect John Boehner as Speaker of the House.

Boehner has been a disaster as Speaker. During his tenure, conservatives have been punished and denied leadership positions, while more moderate members have selected for key roles. Under Boehner, spending has accelerated and real reform has been minimal. In fact, Boehner has been the Speaker for four of Obama’s six years in which the national debt has increased an astronomical $7.5 trillion.

The final straw was the lame duck session of Congress that occurred after the sweeping GOP victory in the November mid-term elections. Instead of listening to millions of Americans and voting to de-fund Obamacare and stop the President's unconstitutional executive order granting amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, Boehner forced Congress to placate Obama and fund both Obamacare and executive amnesty for the next year.

Boehner is the President's golfing buddy, not the type of leader who will oppose him. While the American people want the Republicans to stop the President's dangerously liberal agenda, the House Republicans under Boehner are his de-facto allies.

This betrayal enraged conservatives who bombarded Congress with demands that Republicans select a new Speaker. Phone calls overwhelmed the congressional switchboard, while millions of emails were sent to Republican members of Congress telling them to listen to the people and not the Beltway power brokers.

The conservative website, World Net Daily, organized a “Dump Boehner” campaign, resulting in almost 600,000 letters being sent to Congress. This anger was not limited to only party activists as a recent national survey of Republicans and Independent voters who lean toward the GOP by pollster Pat Caddell showed weak support for Boehner with 60% supporting “someone new” as Speaker.

Despite the legitimate outcry from the millions of conservatives who are the grassroots engine that drives the Republican Party, the members of the GOP congressional delegation ignored their demands and re-elected Boehner to a third term. While there were a historic number of votes against Boehner in his bid for a third term as Speaker, it was not enough to stop his re-election.

This means that once again conservatives have been taken for granted. Boehner was re-elected despite the news uncovered by Dr. Jerome Corsi that the Speaker has a stock portfolio that includes millions of dollars invested in insurance and healthcare companies that are increasing in value due to Obamacare. Thus, he has a financial incentive to disregard the party's base and continue to implement the President's plans for socialized medicine.

After this latest betrayal, conservatives should reexamine their allegiance to the Republican Party. It has been many years since the party acted in accordance with conservative principles. While the grassroots keep electing Republicans to Congress and gave the GOP big victories in 2010 and 2014, the party leadership never acts in accordance with these mandates.

Republicans campaign as conservatives, but govern like liberals.

With Boehner elected to another term as Speaker, nothing will change on Capitol Hill. It will be more of the same in the next two years, so Americans can expect deficit spending to continue, Obamacare and executive amnesty to be fully funded and no real change in Washington D.C.

If conservatives are demoralized with this inaction, the Republicans have no prayer of winning the White House in 2016. At this point, especially if the GOP nominates a big government RINO like Jeb Bush for President, it certainly looks like Hillary Clinton can start measuring the curtains for another stay in the White House.

  • The work that these politicians are pulling in Washington is no joke. The only way to get ride of the Mexicans taking over the U.S. is to fire the first shot, right here at home. We are a people of laws but the crooks don’t follow the laws because they make the laws. We can’t legally get rid of the enemy of this country because he is the dictator that took over the White house and placed his own police force to stop any impeachment proceedings.

Mary Landrieu trashed at the polls

Bill Cassidy (R) trounces Landrieu in Dems' final insult in Louisiana from the files of Lloyd Marcus at the Conservative Campaign Committee

One of the advertisements that brought Landrieu down

In the final insult of a devastating 2014 election for Democrats, Sen. Mary Landrieu, the party’s last remaining statewide officeholder from the Deep South, was trounced Saturday in the head-to-head Louisiana Senate runoff election.

Republican Bill Cassidy’s resounding victory is the ninth Senate seat picked up by the GOP in this year’s elections, three more than the party needed to take control of the chamber. With nearly all the ballots counted, Cassidy led Landrieu by 14 points, 57 percent to 43 percent.

“On November 4th, the American people sent a message that they didn’t like the direction our country was heading,” Cassidy said in his victory speech. “Our state is the exclamation mark on that message.”

His win gives Republicans a four-seat cushion going into 2016, when the party is seeking to protect its first Senate majority since 2006.

The next election cycle’s Senate map is as bad for Republicans as this year’s was for Democrats, with the GOP forced to defend seven seats in states President Barack Obama carried twice.

Mary - Mary: Quite contrary

Mary, Mary Quite Contrary from the Files of Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics.com in New Orleans, Louisiana

Mary Landrieu (D) Defeated by Bill Cassidy (R) - Louisiana U.S. Senate

This morning U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) appeared as a guest on my radio program, Ringside Politics, on WGSO 990 AM in New Orleans.

Over the past 16 years as host of Ringside Politics, I have interviewed Senator Landrieu over a dozen times. In the past, she would call in to promote a particular issue or cause, usually engaging in pleasant conversation or good natured debate.

Our relationship certainly changed in our last radio interview, which occurred over a year ago on the contentious topic of Internet taxes. It was a testy exchange as the Senator and I clashed on whether the government should extend its reach into Internet commerce and tax consumers who purchase goods online.

After our on air tax debate, the Senator refrained from appearing on my program, even though she had an open invitation. She finally relented this morning and called in for an interview; though she seemed quite unhappy, possibly because polls show her way behind.

Initially, we discussed her infamous decision to support Obamacare and later her 97% support for President Obama and finally the shocking allegations made by State Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas) that there was rampant voter fraud in her last election. In fact, Guillory alleged that 10% of Landrieu’s votes were fraudulent in the last election.

The Senator abruptly ended our 11 minute interview before I could ask the dozens of questions submitted by listeners, who wanted to know why she supported the President on issues such as gun control, amnesty for illegal aliens, liberal judicial appointments, higher spending, and more taxes.

Here is a link to the heated interview which showed how much pressure Senator Landrieu feels as her 35 year political career may be ending. Her downfall, however, is of her own making; Landrieu has no one to blame but herself.

While she was abandoned by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and her fellow Democratic Senators on the Keystone Pipeline issue, she would not have been so vulnerable if she would have listened to the people of Louisiana.

In the end, she was too invested in liberalism to connect with the voters of her state. She supported President Obama 97% of the time, while Louisiana voters only give President Obama a 37% approval rating, so it is clear she has not represented her constituents.

She has a lifetime American Conservative Union voting record of only 20%. While her ideology might work in Vermont, it is miserably out of step in the red state of Louisiana.

The majority of Louisiana voters are motivated to vote against Mary Landrieu and Barack Obama for a variety of reasons, but the most important one is Obamacare. During the deliberations on the legislation, voters throughout the state bombarded Landrieu’s office with postcards, emails and calls demanding that she vote no on the bill.

Instead of listening to our concerns, she voted with President Obama. The result has been much worse than a billion dollar waste of a website; it has been massive job losses, work hours being cut, many Americans losing their doctor and millions of people facing higher insurance premiums. Today, doctors are fleeing an industry in turmoil thanks to Mary Landrieu and President Obama.

Sadly, Senator Landrieu was irritable on the air today. It was not the way she should have ended her political career. Maybe she has regrets about her poor decisions in office or maybe she is just upset that her privileged lifestyle is coming to an end. Either way, it is a good lesson for Bill Cassidy.

Hopefully, our new Senator will never forget that he works for the people of Louisiana, not a political party and certainly not a politician or a President.

UPDATE: Mary Landrieu lost her bid for reelection for the U.S. Senate to Republican Bill Cassidy. When the votes were counted Saturday evening, Cassidy became Louisiana's new Senator and won by approximately 15 a point percentage margin.

Could the Tea Party walk away from the GOP?

Just when you thought there was hope from Judson Phillips, Founder of the Tea Party Nation

Thanks to a Remarkable Cartoonist, Steve Breen

During the 2014 elections, there was a sharp divide in the Republican Party. Some in the GOP wanted to crush the Tea Party. Others reached out. In Virginia, Ed Gillespie won the nomination at a convention in June against a Tea Party candidate. He ran his campaign in such a way that he did not demonize the Tea Party or the conservative wing.

After the convention, he immediately reached out to the Tea Party and had complete Tea Party support in his run against incumbent liberal Democrat Mark Warner.

In Louisiana, the previous election of November 4 is a distant memory. Tea Party groups have joined to fight for the election of Bill Cassidy over incumbent liberal Democrat Mary Landrieu.

Just when you think the GOP is getting its act together, we find out the GOP establishment in Washington is selling us out again.

From Breitbart:
Bachmann, who was elected to Congress in 2006 and is ending her service this year, is stupefied by the Republican leadership not taking action or having a plan. “While the country is talking about amnesty, and the president is taking unconstitutional actions, our leadership wants to change the subject and not engage,” she said.

Bannon said he was “stunned” that, on the walk-up to a day that is going to go down as “one of the most important days in constitutional history,” there was no pre existing plan or course of action by the GOP. The Congresswoman asserts that Boehner and the leadership “think that the smarter strategy is to not engage.”

Earlier in the broadcast, co-host and Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow said that, after reading Breitbart News’ report on Friday about Republicans flying out of town after Obama’s speech without devising a plan, is evidence that "the Republican establishment doesn't care about Obama passing executive amnesty.”

Marlow mused, “We're having this debate: should there be a lawsuit? Should there be impeachment? Should the government be shut down? What should we be doing?”

Breitbart’s EIC deduced that Republicans don’t have a coherent plan for a reason. “I actually think this is by design. Republicans have wanted comprehensive immigration reform, they wanted cheap labor… they knew this was coming for nine months, and they did absolutely nothing to get the conservative base on the same page. It’s such a colossal failure that I don’t think that it’s possible to fail this badly. All they had to do was pick a plan and rally everyone behind it. They never did it. Now everyone has a different idea of what needs to be done, and they are leaving town without making a decision.”

Bachmann says that her plan is to “frame the debate so that we fight about the president’s unconstitutional power grab on issuing work permits, despite what the president says. It is an illegal action, and he cannot do it. We would win on that fight, and we would win on that argument.”
I have warned for some time that part of the Republican Party wants to let Obama succeed on Amnesty because if it is done now, it takes the issue off of the table in 2016.

Republicans can run against it with the same fervor they have run against Obamacare. They can rail against it while doing nothing.

Getting Amnesty off the table helps the RINO candidates like Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney. Amnesty is the one issue where there can be no compromise.

Either the GOP makes a real fight against Amnesty and actually does something or it is time for conservatives to leave the GOP.

Landrieu thrown under the bus by Democrats

Landrieu Almost Certain to Lose Her Re-election Bid to Congressman Bil Cassidy

In a tight vote within the senate and with a change of support for Mary Landrieu (R-LA) within her own party, the Keystone XL bill went dow to defeat by a 59-41 votes.

The bill, known as KXL, needed 60 votes to go to the president's desk for signature.

Top level Whitehouse sources indicated to Political Truth Serum that the president was interested in seeing the bill and may have signed it as a good will gesture to its northern U.S. neighbors.

A variation of the legislation is expected to be reintroduced in the senate for another vote with the incoming 114th Congress in January.

The November 18th senate vote almost insures that Landrieu will lose her election run-off bid against Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) on December 6th and give the Republican Party 54 members in the new Senate.

Will the GOP rescue the Buffett subsidy

Is the GOP riding to the rescue of the Buffett subsidy from the files of Judson Phillips, Founder of the Tea Party Nation

Click Here to Visit the Tea Party Nation
_________________________________________________

The Buffett Subsidy? Of Course Its Free
Only a week after the American people spoke in a loud and clear voice that we were tired of business as usual, the Republican Party is going back to business as usual.

The Buffett subsidy is named after billionaire Warren Buffett, the third richest man in the world. Buffett’s net worth is estimated to be $44 billion. Yet Buffett collects millions, if not billions in a subsidy called the Wind Power Production Tax Credit.

The Republican House killed the PTC in what in Washington speak is called the “tax extender package.”

But have no fear, the GOP is back to subsidize liberal billionaires.

From the Washington Examiner:

Republican leaders hope that they can extend dozens of expiring tax provisions worth into the hundreds of billions of dollars even before they take control of the Senate in January, clearing the way for other work and gaining an early victory on tax policy.

Soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell listed passing the provisions, known as “extenders,” just behind a government funding bill as a priority for when the Senate reconvenes for the first time since the midterm elections this week.

“We’ll be talking about whether to do the tax extender package,” McConnell said in a press conference in Louisville, Ky., following his re-election last week.

“[T]here’s a whole lot of unfinished business sitting there, some of which it might be advantageous to get out of the way,” McConnell said. “The Democrats may want to do it and we may want to do it in order to clear off some of the necessary work that’s simply been undone in the dysfunctional Senate.”

The extenders include 55 temporary tax provisions that expired at the end of 2013, including business provisions such as credits for research and experimentation as well as measures that affect individuals, such as the state and local tax deduction. They also include energy credits, most notably the renewable electricity production tax credit that has aided the U.S. wind farm industry.

Is the GOP tone deaf?

The American people are tired of subsidizing Warren Buffett. He has done well enough on his own. He can figure out profitable investments without the American taxpayer subsidizing him.

There’s another issue here too. The Green-Left or as I like to call it, the “Liberal-Cronyist Complex” spent billions to ensure that liberal Democrats would be reelected. They did this just so they could keep outrageous subsidies like the Wind Power Production Tax Credit.

Why is the GOP rewarding and subsidizing their enemies?

Call Mitch McConnell’s office today at (202) 224-2541 and tell him we did not elect Republicans and put them in the majority just so they could take tax dollars from real Americans and use that money to subsidize rich liberals like Warren Buffett.

Tell the Republican Party the Buffett subsidy has got to go.

President Obama is playing with matches

Obama is Playing with Matches from the files of Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics.com

Click on This Link to Visit Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics.com

The mid-term election should have been a resounding wake-up call to President Obama to change from his liberal agenda and start working with an emboldened Republican Party. On Tuesday, the GOP took over control of the U.S. Senate, expanded its majority in the House and gained governorships in such blue states as Maryland and Illinois.

The voters delivered a clear repudiation of the Obama presidency and his quest to remake America. Amazingly, the tone deaf President did not admit his role in the Democratic Party defeats. At a Wednesday news conference, the President refused to acknowledge the message from the voters and continued to admit that executive amnesty was on the horizon for millions of illegal immigrants.

The President is continuing on a path that will bring chaos and ruin to this country. House Speaker John Boehner cautioned the President against executive amnesty and said that President should not “play with matches.” If he does grant amnesty and ignores the electorate, Boehner believes that Obama will “burn himself.”

In Boehner’s view, if Obama grants amnesty, he will be acting “unilaterally” and exceeding “his authority.” How should Congress react to such a provocation? It can defund the presidential action or launch impeachment proceedings. At the very least, the GOP leadership should stop acting like Republicans and actually fight back against President Obama.

On the issue of immigration, Republicans have been fearful of Hispanic groups and being labeled racist by the media. They have listened to their big donors in the business community who have championed the “cheap labor” of illegal immigrants. All the while, the majority of Americans have been calling for an end to this influx of illegal aliens and the securing of our borders.

In Tuesday’s stunning vote, the American electorate repudiated Obama’s immigration policies and called for Republicans to stand firm against him, not compromise. Nevertheless, the President will not listen to the voters and will continue to pursue his unpopular policies at any cost. Once he grants executive amnesty, it will be a “slap in the face” to all legal citizens, especially Hispanic Americans who entered this country legally.

The Republican Congress needs to act swiftly once the President imposes amnesty. Along with defunding his plans, the Congress should commit to finishing a border fence, increasing the border patrol and prosecuting businesses who knowingly hire illegal workers.

Sadly, too many Republicans want to work with the President on “comprehensive immigration reform.” Last year, the Senate passed an immigration bill that called for a pathway to citizenship, but, fortunately, the House refused to pass it. While some Republicans want to revisit this issue, the reality is that a secure border will make a comprehensive bill unnecessary and the problem will gradually dissipate.

Unfortunately, the problem is growing today because the border is not secure. This summer, thousands of illegal youngsters from Central America flooded into our country burdening public school systems in dozens of states.

We have a bad situation that the President is going to make worse with executive amnesty. In defying the American people, he is acting like a child and, as noted by Boehner, playing with matches on this issue. While he may believe that executive amnesty will be good for the Democratic Party, it will cause more economic and cultural strain in the country, and create a “constitutional crisis” according to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).

The showdown is coming and Republicans have to prepare their response. An immense battle is brewing that will have major consequences for our country. Hopefully, the Republicans will listen to the people and not to special interests. It would be a refreshing change that will benefit their party and, most importantly, their country.

Caution: Entering a lame duck session

Warning: Lame Duck Ahead by Judson Phillips, Founder of The Tea Party Nation

Meet Judson Phillips
Congress returns to Washington for a lame duck session in the next few days. The American public has sent a message but will Republicans listen?

The message is simple. The American people want Republicans not Democrats running the nation’s affairs.

But in the lame duck session, Harry Reid and the Democrats will still be in charge of the Senate. So what is the GOP to do?

From Fox News:
The aptly named lame duck session of Congress will be short this year --- probably about a month.

"I don’t think the lame duck session is going to last long," said Darrell West of the Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C. think tank. "There will be a lot of members who just want to get out of Dodge. This has been an unhappy election, especially for Democrats."

Sen. Jerry Moran. R-Kan., leader of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said many issues should be left to the new Congress, which begins January 3rd. But, he added, the year-end session will do what it must.

Moran said the lame duck Congress will do the "things that are necessary to operate the government -certainly the appropriations bill is one that will be front and center."

And providing the necessary money to combat Ebola. Many also believe there's support to make sure defense is properly funded while the U.S. is trying to stop radical Islamists from marauding through the Middle East.
The lame duck session is necessary to keep the government running, but what is done with the lame duck session is the Republican’s choice.

Hold their feet to the fire

We Won: We Must Hold Their Feet to the Fire from the files of Lloyd Marcus at The Conservative Campaign Committee

Read the Marcus Files Online
My lovely wife and I shared a victory toast and a kiss in front of the fireplace in the lobby of the hotel that we are staying in Colorado, upon the announcement that the GOP won the Senate.

Our Conservative Campaign Committee team has been here for weeks working to elect Cory Gardner for U.S. Senate. Gardner won!

Folks, please do not get me wrong: I am elated that the GOP has won control of the Senate. Despite their faults, the GOP is closest to our principles and values. Also, we desperately needed to dethrone evil madmen Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader.

However, I must confess that it was annoying to watch Karl Rove on TV pounding his chest in victory about how he and his group pushed the Tea Party nut candidates out of the race. Rove had the nerve to say he and his people wanted the best electable conservative candidates. That simply is not true.

Chris McDaniel, to name one, in Mississippi was an awesome extremely electable Tea Party conservative who was pushed out of the race with GOP dirty tricks which included race-baiting. Yes, you heard me correctly.

The GOP establishment machine engaged in the Democrat-gutter, tried and true, despicable tactic of race-baiting to screw McDaniel. I know. I know. You're saying, C'mon, Lloyd, that's in the past. We won. Celebrate and get over it. Sorry, folks. I expect better from our side.

Rove and his deep-pocketed homey’s strategy of the GOP keeping a low profile and letting Obama hang himself worked okay. Unfortunately, exit polling revealed that the GOP is still viewed unfavorably by a majority of voters.

Given the horrors and scandals of the Obama regime, the Republican wave should have been a tsunami. What if the GOP had offered an agenda inspiring people to vote FOR them rather than AGAINST Obama? What if the GOP boldly articulated why conservatism is the best and most direct path for each and every American to achieve their American dream?

Two remarkable things happen this election that strongly suggest that blacks are open to hearing what Conservatism has to offer over Liberalism. A video of urban blacks in Chicago trashing Obama and the Democrats went viral.

My lifelong Democrat 86 year old black dad called from Maryland to tell me that he did not like any of the candidates, but voted Republican. Folks, that is huge. Dad has always believed that a vote for a Republican is a vote for the KKK. So something is up.

Republicans now control the House and the Senate. Praise God! Now what? Word on the political street is the GOP plans to give the Tea Party the finger.

Patriots, we must be more mobilized and engaged than ever. We must do everything in our power to push the GOP into doing what we worked our butts off for them to do: Stop Obama's Agenda!

D.C. insiders say that the GOP strategy is not to push back too soon or too hard against Obama's agenda as not to be called arrogant, aggressive and mean by the MSM. The game plan is to play nice with Obama as not to hinder our chances of winning the White House in 2016.

These D.C. insiders also say repealing Obamacare is impossible and the best that we in the Tea Party can hope for is for the GOP to fix it. Mitt Romney said upon the GOP winning the Senate an immigration bill would be top priority. You see where this is headed folks? The GOP plans to go swishy on us and implement a Democrat-lite agenda.

We can not and will not allow them to get away with it. I am proposing that the united forces of the Tea Party launch “Operation Hold Their Feet to the Fire”. Every individual, group and organization must use their gifts, talents, skills and passion to force the GOP to do the right thing.

Folks, we have brilliant minds on our side. I have met many of you traveling on over a dozen national bus tours, attending over 400 tea party rallies. I challenge you to think of strategic ways to turn the GOP's agenda to our agenda; repeal Obamacare, secure our borders, fiscal responsibility, restoring our freedom and liberty and turn us back to one nation under God.

Ronald Reagan: “There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit.” Patriots, I am calling for an all hands on deck drill to save our country by holding the Republicans' feet to the fire. Frankly, I do not care which Tea Party group, organization or individual that leads the charge. Let's just get it done!

Everyone pulling together is how we (Conservatives) won big in 2010, shocking Washington D.C., despite being ignored by the MSM.

As I said, we are in Colorado, too busy campaigning to enjoy the world renowned hot springs. In celebration of the Republican wave, America's push back against socialism, we can relax a bit. Mary and I plan to enjoy a few relaxing therapeutic soaks in the sulfur smelling hot springs.

Then, we will be ready to pack our bags and hit the road on a “Hold Their Feet to the Fire Tour”. I have even written a soon to be released theme song.

I thank God for our victory. But, there is still much more work to be done; miles to go before we sleep.

Congrats patriots, taking the U.S. Senate is a major step in the right direction.

I don't know why, but I feel compelled to end with this video of Kate Smith singing “God Bless America.”

A Republican Agenda

A Republican Agenda submitted for publication from Stand Up America U.S.

Visit Stand Up America U.S. with Major General Paul E. Vallely

Stop Amnesty Now. President Obama wants to pursue executive amnesty. We all know it. He knows it; his cabinet knows it; the media know it. The Republicans should pass a one-page bill defunding any agency of government that refuses to implement federal immigration law or that facilitates such refusal. The executive branch does not have the cash to implement amnesty – unless Congress gives it to President Obama.

Border Security. Republicans should immediately pass a bill securing the southern border, with funds available to complete the fence. Those funds should, if possible, be given to border state governors for implementation should those governors apply for grants. Furthermore, Republicans should fully fund all immigration agents so that the great lie that government cannot keep track of those illegally in the country can be put to bed once and for all: if the IRS can keep track of hundreds of millions of Americans, surely the feds can keep track of 10 million illegal immigrants.

Piecemeal Funding Of The Government. Republicans are already talking about passing a full budget. They shouldn’t. The budget process is a joke, created purely for the purpose of lard-slathered legislation. Instead, Republicans should individually fund each portion of the government, and force Obama to veto every one of those bills. Let him go on record as opposing funding for the Defense Department, the Centers for Disease Control, and the like, all in order to preserve his precious Obamacare. It will be difficult for him to argue that a government shutdown is the Republicans’ fault when he has hundreds of individual bills funding everything Americans want on his desk awaiting signature.

Repeal Obamacare. Yes, full repeal. Obama will reject it. That does not matter. The point is that the American people do not like Obamacare, and are not interested in preserving it. A full quarter of Americans said in exit polls yesterday that health care was their top voting priority. That number is likely to rise as Obamacare is implemented. Republicans pledged repeal. Now is the time for them to fulfill that pledge.

Restore Defense Department Cuts. The cuts to Defense funding under President Obama’s sequestration have been disastrous for Americans’ security. We no longer have the capacity to fight two wars simultaneously – a basic requirement of national security – and we are looking at the greatest cuts to military readiness in almost a century. Republicans should move quickly to replace Defense spending in the face of a growing threat from Islamic terrorism, Russian imperialism, and Chinese militarism.

Withdraw Funding From Certain Parts of The United Nations. The United Nations is an amoral joke, and councils like the Human Rights Council are far worse than that. Spending millions of taxpayer dollars to prop up failing dictatorships and thugocracies isn’t just wrong, it’s an insult to the men and women who work every day to stop such dictatorships – and those who die trying to fight them.

Pass Strong Sanctions on Iran. Withdraw Funding for the Palestinian Authority, Move the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. President Obama’s outreach to Iran has been one of the greatest catastrophes for American foreign policy in decades. Iran will go nuclear, unless the United States takes severe action against Iran. That means harsh sanctions, beginning now. That would also send Iran the signal that no matter how much President Obama hates “chickens***” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the people of the United States stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel. The same message would be sent by moving the embassy to Jerusalem – right now, the Obama administration refuses to even state that Jerusalem is a part of Israel – or with a move by the Congress to cut off foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority, which is working with Hamas in a genocidally anti-Jewish campaign of terror against the Jewish state.

Dismantle Common Core. Common Core is set to plague states across the country with its mishmash of standards and requirements. Federal power over education should be delegated back to the states, where it belongs. Republicans on the state level should then vote to set up grant programs that create actual teacher training standards, as in countries like Finland.

Greenlight Keystone XL. New Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already said that this remains a top priority. President Obama should be forced to give Keystone XL an up-or-down decision as soon as possible. As Alison Lundergan Grimes found out, Americans like access to energy.

There are plenty more such legislative proposals worthy of consideration. The bottom line: if Republicans blow this opportunity to draw a contrast with the Democratic Party, they will have failed dramatically. President Obama must become the President of No in order for Americans to see Republicans as a party worth saying yes to in 2016.
