GOP needs a 5 percent growth target

Supply-side, across-the-board tax cuts are the best way there from Larry Kudlow at Kudlow and Company, Inc.

Visit Larry Kudlow Online

First-quarter real GDP actually declined by 0.7 percent, according to revisions out this week, creating much new talk about recession. But there is no recession. Trouble is, there continues to be virtually no recovery.

The economy has expanded about 1.5 percent over the past two quarters, 2.4 percent at an annual rate over the past two years, and about 2.3 percent during this six-year, so-called recovery. That’s the real problem. Not a one-quarter snowstorm or inaccurate seasonal adjustments.

Following the deepest recession since World War II, a normal recovery should have featured an outsized rebound. The Reagan years exemplified that model. But it hasn’t happened. Why?

On the eve of the Republican primaries, here’s the big question: What must we do to restore America’s long-term economic-growth performance, which is roughly 3.4 percent per year? Answer: 5 percent growth for the next decade.

Today’s economy is about $2 trillion below that long-term trend line. And the absence of normal growth is a big part of 15 million fewer jobs and a 10.8 percent U-6 unemployment rate (marginally attached workers, part-timers who want full-time work, people who have given up).

There are federal-entitlement disincentives at play, but a normal growth path would have produced many more jobs and a higher employment-to-population rate. And while I have written on family breakup as a huge source of poverty, the absence of economic growth is surely part of the problem.

And here’s a point for those who worry about federal debt and deficits. According to the CBO, a 1 percent increase in real economic growth would lower the deficit by about $3 trillion over ten years. In other words, growth solves a lot of problems.

And it’s high time for growth.

A little history: Despite the urban legend of a booming 1950s, there were three recessions under Ike and an average growth rate of only 2.5 percent. Then, in the spring of 1960, Nelson Rockefeller sat down with presidential hopeful Richard Nixon and hammered out the so-called Fifth Avenue compact, headlined by a 5 percent growth target. And almost at the same time, Senator John F. Kennedy entered a 5 percent growth target into his campaign. By the way, with JFK’s supply-side tax cut, the 1960s registered nearly 5 percent growth.

So how about some Republican leadership today, with all the candidates pushing for a 5 percent economic-growth target. It’s exactly what we need to get back to America’s long-term prosperity trend, which had long ensured our world leadership. We don’t have that today. Unfortunately, it’s just as Ronald Reagan warned: Weakness at home creates weakness abroad.

In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, distinguished economist Martin Feldstein made a plea for tax-cut policies that would generate much faster growth. In particular, he argued for more capital investment, which by the way, adjusted for inflation, hasn’t increased in 20 years.

Here’s the Feldstein prescription: Slash the corporate income tax and lower personal income-tax rates. Get rid of taxes on interest and dividends to promote saving. Get rid of deductions that shift capital to less-productive investments. Reform means-tested programs, such as disability insurance and Obamacare, which reduce benefits if people move from welfare to work.

As for my part, I understand that education reform, stable families, job training, reducing regulation, and other non-tax items are crucial for growth. But if we want more risk and innovation, and more take-home pay for the middle class, we must look hard at pro-growth tax reform. And by that I mean across-the-board tax-rate cuts, along with simplification and ending cronyist deductions.

A reformicon recently penned a piece arguing that traditional supply-siders (I guess like myself) only want to cut the top personal tax rate. Nonsense. Kemp-Roth, Reagan’s ’81 and ’86 reforms, and even George W. Bush’s ’03 reform were focused on across-the-board reductions in marginal tax rates. In fact, most of the time, the tax-rate-cut percentage has been greatest for the middle class. And we all borrowed from the JFK tax cuts, which were across-the-board.

That’s the most efficient pro-growth approach: incentive-oriented, economically neutral, tax-rate reduction. Targeted tax credits are inefficient government planning. And they won’t produce growth.

Now, I would prefer a 15 and 28 percent personal tax reform that goes back to Reagan ’86. This would end the 10, 25, 28, and 33 percent brackets that have plagued the middle class. It would increase take-home pay for everyone, providing a bigger bang than child tax credits. I would also like a 20 percent corporate tax rate, along with territorial-based repatriation and cash expensing for investment, all of which would offer the greatest benefit to middle-income earners.

But a 5 percent growth target gets the ball rolling in the right direction. The Democrats won’t do it. But the Republicans can.

Hillary's media ~ Bad as her southern accent

From the files of Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics on WLAE-TV 32 in New Orleans, Louisiana

Visit Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics.com
The media should be having a field day with presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. For her entire political life, Hillary Clinton’s name has been synonymous with scandal. From cattle futures to the Rose Law Firm to the White Travel Office, Hillary Clinton was never far from the scandals that plagued her husband's presidency.

Her tenure as Secretary of State did not include any significant accomplishments, but was marred by her inexcusable handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack. While serving as our nation’s top diplomat, she seemingly sold her office to the highest bidder as massive funds were raised by the Clinton Foundation.

Despite her supposed advocacy for gays and women, her foundation accepted large donations from Middle Eastern countries that discriminate against both groups and possess horrible human rights records. For Hillary Clinton, actions speak louder than words and her acceptance of tainted money shows how little she cares about human rights.

As a presidential candidate, Hillary has been rocked by revelations that she used a private email account and server to conduct official Obama administration business. Not only did she expose these communications to potential hacking from foreign adversaries, but Hillary shielded these emails from the American people.

It should surprise no one that Hillary destroyed 31,000 emails and wiped her server clean. Clearly, Hillary Clinton does not believe in transparency and, once again, her actions are the hallmark of someone who specializes in duplicity. Sadly, these behaviors were nothing new as Hillary has been obfuscating and telling falsehoods her entire political career.

In the past five weeks, Clinton has only answered press questions twice, in both cases, quite reluctantly. Such mistreatment of the media and the American people should not be tolerated; however, most reporters are giving her a pass because they share her liberal beliefs. Of course, no Republican presidential frontrunner would be allowed to avoid media scrutiny for over a month.

This week, Hillary continued to avoid the press while campaigning in South Carolina, a state she lost badly to Barack Obama in 2008. While addressing her supporters, Hillary once again utilized a phony Southern accent. This laughable attempt at a diction makeover brought up painful memories of her 2007 speech in Selma, Alabama where Hillary donned the phoniest Southern accent of all time.

Thus, in her South Carolina campaign swing, Hillary managed to insult her audience, the media and most importantly the American people. While Hillary avoided press questions, her Republican opponent, Carly Fiorina, conducted a wide ranging news conference outside the hotel where Clinton was speaking.

During her sidewalk interview, Fiorina showed the American people how a presidential candidate should behave by being open and honest and not backing down from tough questions.

The current edition of Hillary Clinton is a candidate who is neither genuine nor honest and is uninterested in answering questions about her questionable behavior. This is not the kind of person Americans need as President.

Obviously, Hillary learned about deceit from the master of political deception, Bill Clinton. As Paula Jones, a woman who accused Bill Clinton of sexual harassment, noted in an interview this week with the Daily Mail Online, Americans should not elect Hillary Clinton as President of the United States.

According to Jones, “She should not be running with the terrible history they have. Who would want Bill Clinton back a second time, doing the same stuff he was doing before, philandering with women? They have both lied.”

Exactly Ms. Jones; Bill Clinton and his phony, scandal tarred wife should be not allowed anywhere near the White House. If she is elected President, America should expect more of the same, lies coupled with relentless ambition, a very dangerous combination.

The Louisiana legislature gets it

Bold steps must be taken to protect critical services by Marita K. Noon at Energy Makes America Great, Inc.

Marita Noon at Energy Make America Great
At a time when the Louisiana legislature is facing a $1.6 billion budget shortfall with massive cuts in important programs like healthcare and education as a solution, legislators realize tough decisions have to be made—even when the choice may anger advocates who depend on the handouts they claim are essential for survival.

Such is the case of the solar industry in Louisiana. On April 27, the Ways and Means Committee voted on three different bills that will benefit the budget. Each bill faced opposition from the solar industry that stacked the deck with impassioned presenters claiming that the bills will kill jobs and hurt the poors’ opportunities for solar power.

Aaron Dirks, chairman and cofounder of Posigen, spoke in opposition to one of the bills. (Not surprisingly, virtually all of the opposition came from those within the solar industry.) Dirks, who claimed Posigen is “the fourth largest solar company in America,” touted his Harvard Business School education and the status of his checkbook.

He claimed: “I am a successful businessman, this is my 12th business. And I’m proud to say also that we are not arguing today whether or not we should incentivize families from being able to create their own power and that solar is good. But it seems like today that this issue is should it also be available to families who can’t write a $25,000, or now $20,000, check, or go borrow that money from a bank. Should it be accessible to all our Louisiana working families.”

But is solar power, propping up the Harvard educated’s 12th business, really what Louisiana working families are clamoring for?

Or, as Representative James believes, are they more concerned about “the $7 billion give way, tax dollars that we give out, tax dollars that deserve to go to our schools, our hospitals and our roads.” James continued: “This has been an eight year subsidy.” He added: I have nothing against the solar industry, but I am looking out for the future of our state.”

In presenting HB 510, Representative James called it “a bold step, a bold and necessary step for us to correct wrongs.” With the state facing a 56 percent cut to higher education, James says everything needs to be done to be sure that “the single mom has a college that’s affordable to go to.” Without that, there’s no hope she might every set foot in Harvard Business School. James realizes that protecting “the critical services of the state” will require legislators to make “some tough decisions.” And they did.

Legislators saw through the flimflam. They understand that in neighboring states without the generous subsidies, the solar industry has still created jobs. They also understand that a primary driver of increases in electricity costs is the escalating implementation of solar panels.

After the votes, each of the three bills move to a floor vote. For the sake of Louisiana’s critical services, hopefully the full House will vote with the same foresight.

Gender: No credential for the White House

Gender is no credential for the White House from the files of Jeff Jacoby at The Boston Globe

Carly Fiorina and Hillary Clinton

Republican Carly Fiorina announced her candidacy for president this week, making her the second woman to join the 2016 race — the other, of course, being Democrat Hillary Clinton. Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, is considered a long shot for the GOP nomination, while Clinton is widely seen as a shoo-in for the Democrats.

But who knows? The first caucuses and primaries are still many months off, and in politics anything can happen.

This early in the presidential cycle, I make no predictions about how the race will play out. But one thing I'm sure of: America doesn't need to send a woman to the White House.

Needless to say, many Clinton supporters vehemently proclaim the opposite.

"Hillary Clinton Is Running For President, And I'm Voting For Her Because She's A Woman," reads the headline on a long essay by Gabrielle Moss in Bustle magazine. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, asked whether Clinton's vote for the Iraq War should disqualify her from the support of progressive Democrats, responds that "what's important is what it would mean to elect a woman president of the United States."

Never mind old controversies, Pelosi suggests; Clinton's sex is what should animate voters now.

Making the point even more graphically is writer Kate Harding in the web journal Dame. "I intend to vote with my vagina," Harding declares, embracing Clinton's candidacy on the grounds that the United States has never had a president "who knows what it's like to menstruate, be pregnant, or give birth."

There was a time when Clinton purported to reject such gender-based appeals. "I am not running as a woman," she told voters during her last campaign for president. Now she plays it up for all it's worth. "Don't you someday want to see a woman president of the United States of America?" she pointedly asked attendees at an EMILY's List gala.

So far Fiorina has declined to treat biology as a credential for high office. Elections should not be based on "identity politics [or] what you look like," she says, telling journalists she won't let Clinton "play the gender card." Yet that won't keep at least some Republicans from supporting Fiorina — especially if her candidacy catches fire — with the claim that "it's time for a woman president."

No, it's not.

Of course a woman could be president. But no one
should become president BECAUSE she's a woman
.
Of all the qualifications to seek in a US president, few could be more irrelevant to the job than sex organs. Whether the leader of the free world is equipped with the anatomical parts of a male or of a female is of infinitely less significance than whether that leader is equipped with integrity and sound judgment, with respect for facts and loyalty to the Constitution.

No rational person looking to hire a violinist or copywriter or ophthalmologist would let that choice hinge on "know[ing] what it's like to menstruate, be pregnant, or give birth." What rational voter would make that the test of fitness for the presidency?

It should go without saying that candidates' political skill, wisdom, and vision are no more dependent on their sex than on the color of their skin, the shape of their eyes, or their ancestors' come in all varieties. So can the worst. Reducing an electoral choice to a physical characteristic trivializes self-government and the responsibilities of citizenship.

Of course voters are free to cast ballots for any reason they like, including feel-good symbolism or sentimental tokenism. But no one should imagine that there is honor in voting for Clinton because she's a woman.

Wasn't the whole point of feminism, after all, that woman are more than biology?

The Left's worst nightmare has arrived

From the files of the Colonel Allen B. West Weblog

Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina
On Monday something very different happened when former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson announced as candidates for the presidency of the United States.

Here were two very accomplished individuals — and for those who want to attack, Ms. Fiorina ask yourself, what had Barack Obama ever endeavored to lead in the private sector?

What made these announcements so profound was that they happened in a GOP primary race. I know, you can hear the liberal progressive lefties laughing but that may be the case. However, these two Americans have accomplished resumes and it is not just about being in “politics.”

But there is something greater happening here. Politics at the national level have become more about image and identity. The focus has become more about “firsts,” well-marketed personas and the cult of personality rather than quality, character, and accomplishment.

Someone sits back in a secret room and runs marketing models and language tests in order to create the perfectly acceptable culture of candidacy. Think back to when this all started, and it was the televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon. Now of course I wasn’t around, but in researching this event you get two completely different results.

If you watched the debate, there was a clear advantage to a young dashingly-appealing Kennedy. The televised image of Kennedy was just that overpowering. However, if you just sat and listened to the debate, focusing on the words — Nixon won the debate. And so it is where we have devolved to today — the politics of identity politics.

The liberal progressive Left realized if a progressive socialist agenda was to ever take root in America and occupy the White House, there had to be a gimmick — so you raise and prepare the first black president. Some claimed Barack Obama’s 2004 DNC keynote speech as one of the greatest in American history, because the image was the focus and was overpowering.

To sit and listen to the words, well, I could hear the same iambic pentameter rhyme speech on any given Sunday in any given black church. But the identity politics of the day was something new to America. That’s why the Left realized Hillary wasn’t the one in 2008 — it was the time for the identity politics of the first black president.

And here we have Hillary Clinton believing it is her time — meaning it’s time for the first female president. Unfortunately, she is not the chosen one to carry forth the progressive socialist agenda, hence why the liberal left is exposing her for greater scrutiny. Sadly, as Bill Clinton said, the Clintons' first had the race card played on them, and now they’re having the female card played.

The left wants a woman but they don’t trust Hillary Clinton — that we can all agree with. They want another identity politics moment consistent with their leftist agenda — that means Elizabeth Warren. And after that, well, expect for the first Hispanic presidential candidate and he’s already being groomed — Julian Castro — former mayor of San Antonio, now HUD Secretary.

I feel sorry for plain ol’ white guys in the Democrat Party — y’all ain’t got a hope in Hades. Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, and Jim Webb should just go fishing — they don’t advance the politics of identity politics.

So back to the original premise of this missive — this is why Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson are vital. Their voices must be heard and they must be on the stage. It is not about affirmative action — that is a liberal progressive equality of outcomes policy. They have earned a spot there, and they are not the same ol’ faces the GOP always throws out there.

I hate to admit it, but national-level elections more resemble American Idol than anything else. They are centered in image and if someone is unsuccessful in conveying a likable persona, then her or she will never get their message heard. And let’s admit it as well, the GOP needs variety — heck, even Star Trek had all kinds of different folks on it (not saying we need Klingons or Romulans to run for office, but Vulcans couldn’t win — no light humorous side).

If you look at the GOP presidential primary race right now you have two Hispanic Senators, a private sector female CEO, and a world-renowned black pediatric neurosurgeon.

Now that is driving the Left nuts. What you’ll soon find out is who is the most racist, sexist, and xenophobic party. You’ll see how the liberal progressive left will claim that Rubio, Cruz, Fiorina, and Carson are not “REALLY” what they are — not really Hispanic, not really female, not really black.

And that’s because these are individuals who have accomplished exceptional things due to the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Their identity is not what defines them nor is it their calling card. We will see what character assassination means because these four individuals are the greatest threat to the progressive socialist left — because some folks, based on image, may just pay more attention to them.

Carly Fiorina will soon find out what the real “War on Women” is — that continuing assault against conservative women.

The GOP would be rather smart to not just dismiss the idea of the politics of identity politics. In battle, the victory goes to the commander who can adapt and adjust strategies and tactics. If folks like Karl Rove break out the magic little white board in order to dispel the four people who have finally broken the phalanx of the Republican party, they will suffer.

However, if these four individuals have a platform, there is a possibility that more people will give another look — and then you can give them the superior message of the opportunity society rather than the failure of the welfare nanny-state dependency society.

Nope, this ain’t pandering. That’s what the Left does by running empty suit rhetoric — folks who desperately need a teleprompter or run and hide from scrutiny.

Four guaranteed liberal election lies

From the weblog files of Colonel Allen B. West

According to Webster’s dictionary, fiction consists of written stories about people and events that are not real, or literature that tells stories which are imagined by the writer. Occasionally, fiction — and often the best fiction — is based on real life events. AND often, fiction is a form of embellishment used to illustrate a point, build a personal story and persuade a population to action. Often, when caught, the author of personal embellishment will claim a bout of “mis-remembrance.” Another word for this type of “embellishment” in written or verbal form is the simple three-letter word known as a lie.

So, why do people lie? In the absence of a psychological problem, people lie to persuade, to achieve, and to attract. Small personal white lies might save feelings and friendships – such as telling your friend that the outfit, no matter how ill-conceived, is attractive — especially if worn all day by the time you see her/him might save feelings. Bigger lies occur when society tells “white lies” that affect members of a population and instead of being harmless, end up being quite harmful.

1. The “persuasive” lie is one in which a person or group decides to make things up or tell half-truths in order to persuade the audience to believe certain larger than life things about themselves.

For example, Hillary Clinton’s claim of being “dead broke” or racing across the battleground on foot without any body armor in Bosnia after her plane was brought down in a volley of enemy fire, or the claim that all of her grandparents were immigrants… in fact she even named one in particular, Hanna Jones Rodham, as being an immigrant who worked in a lace factory in order to make ends meet. Or maybe that was the immigrant grandfather who worked in the lace mill to make ends meet…. either way, it seems that grandmother Hanna was really born in Pennsylvania.

Whatever the scenario, whether the politician paints a word picture by exaggerating experiences in order to identify with the common broke folk, illustrate the bravery of militarily untrained older women on the battlefield, or appear to be a member of the immigrant class, the goal here is to persuade the voter to identify and true or untrue, move them to the voting booth. Caution: this strategy only works for politicians. Doing this on a resume or as a news anchor (Brian Williams for example) might be dangerous to your career.

2. The “puffery” lie inflates reality.

In 2012, Breitbart documented the facts surrounding Senator Warren’s claims of Native American ancestry and demonstrated that no credible evidence exists to support those claims. But lack of genealogical evidence has never stopped Senator Warren from boldly asserting as fact something which is flatly not true – why would it? Despite evidence to the contrary, Warren is determined to be a Cherokee Indian tribal member.

In fact, for the “Pow Wow Chow Cookbook,” she produced recipes (along with other Native Americans) of favorite Cherokee Tribe dishes such as “Cold Omelets with Crab Meat” and “Crab with Tomato Mayonnaise Dressing.” These were touted as family traditions until they were found out to be copied from a 1979 New York Times News Service article by Pierre Franey. Perhaps the real reason for the Native American heritage would be the preferred consideration for a position at an Ivy League University eager to attain its first Native American female professor. This has been a successful achievement because, despite evidence to the contrary, the story remains intact.

3. The “attraction” lie adds sizzle to an otherwise overcooked steak.

I have always told my girls that the truth is often dull, sometimes strange, but hardly ever as elaborate and gilded as a lie. Being “dead broke” means having an often dull or mundane existence centered around simply trying to make the day work or trying to keep your head above water. It does not involve international travel, shopping sprees or expensive dinners.

Cherokee Indian recipes often contain corn meal, beans, side meat (pork), eggs (often frozen and preserved) and wild onions. Crab meat omelets with or without mayo are seldom on the menu. And the possibility of an untrained person dodging enemy fire after being shot from the sky over a Middle Eastern country is highly unlikely unless Captain America used his mighty shield.

4. The “mythological” lie helps to advance a narrative.

It is very useful but can also be very detrimental to people and causes. For example, the “hand’s up don’t shoot” fantasy concocted a few short months ago that has brushed off its false mantle and become a flash point for riots, looting and plunder. Unfortunately this falsity will obscure legitimate complaints and issues. We found that to be true with the Rolling Stone piece on a rape that probably never occurred. What effect this will have on other legitimate claims of rape and rape victims will be determined in the future.

Will any exposed lies matter? To some but not to others, especially those who WANT to believe. Desperately want to believe.

A final thought:
“People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I’ve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one’s reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one’s master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person’s view requires to be faked…The man who lies to the world, is the world’s slave from then on…There are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all.” ~ Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

The man who could have saved America

From the files of Ken LaRive at the Lafayette Examiner

At about two in the morning in the year 2007 I was looking for a YouTube video to validate an essay I was writing for the Examiner. I came across an old interview with a young Dr. Ron Paul. He was warning us of a coming calamity that would become chaos unless addressed, a caution that he saw emphatically manifesting itself in America.

After a half hour, going from one speech to another, I saw his powerful address to Congress, and I knew that his words were viable and true, and could save America. I woke up my wife sleeping in the next room when I gave an involuntary shout, “Oh my God!” I said, “He is telling the truth!”

Fact is, I didn't know about 40 percent of what he was referring to... Government overreach, the escalating and unconstitutional wars, corporatism for war, the National Debt, but I wanted to know more... and over the next several months I studied and learned, listening to every recording I could find, even buying his books on Ebay.

It fundamentally changed the perspective of my world view, my country, and my place in it, and for the very first time in my life, from the streets of New Orleans, the murder capital of the Nation, from Vietnam, to the life I had chosen as an International Mud Engineer... I felt truly afraid.

He was a twelve-term Congressman, and a leading advocate for a Constitutional government, free markets, honest money, personal liberty, and international peace. He had served his country as a Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard during Vietnam.

He was the chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee, founder of the Campaign for Liberty, and had authored eight books. He was a physician who had delivered over 4,000 babies, marrying his high school sweetheart, Carol, with five children.

I saw an endorsement somewhere by Ronald Reagan: “Ron Paul is one of the outstanding fighters for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he puts them first. We need him fighting for our country.”

He talked about issues the American people were talking about, issues other candidates only glossed over, uncomfortable to bring to light. The 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., and how they were costing the U.S. Taxpayer $113 billion annually, and like a good doctor, addressed the cause of all of these problems, not merely the symptoms.

He tiredly endorsed the securely of our borders, and opposed federal entitlements and amnesty, such as birthright citizenship, and vied to remove incentives to illegally immigrate in the first place, seeing it as the root of the problem.

A Congressman from a key border state, Texas, he had a plan to halt the 3 million illegal immigrants entering the U.S. each year, that have now escalated to 10, while he proposed bills for LEGAL immigration for those who work hard and obey U.S. Law.

He said: “ We need to worry about our borders right here at home instead of borders in the Middle East.”

He supported our troops, and promised as President he would bring them home. He wanted to put America's security first; not fighting wars, policing, and “nation-building” all over the world. “Our troops are too valuable to be needlessly put in harm's way to serve other nation's interests.” He said.

He addressed that the U.S. had over 900 military installations in over 150 countries, and yet our national security has been compromised because our troops were spread too thin. They belonged home defending America.

A strict Constitutionalist, he advocated that the Federal Government's primary duty was not only to insure our Civil Liberties, but to defend America, and he got more votes from troops because of those two issues, then all other candidates combined.

War costs each American taxpayer $2,626.00 per year, with 6,300 American lives lost for nothing more than international corporate and banking profit. Not one county has embraced our American Constitution, because it is not presented to them as an option.

We install dictators that these bankers and corporations can buy and control, at the same time our Constitution and Bill of Rights are destroyed here at home.

“War is never economically beneficial except for those in position to profit from war expenditures.” -Ron Paul

“If we want to go to war, the Congress should declare it. You get a declaration of war and you fight it and you win it and get it over with. We don't go to war like we did in Vietnam and Korea, because wars never end.” -Ron Paul

He had a plan called “Restore America,” to return America to a constitutional government that had made us the greatest nation in human history.

As President, he would have rescinded unconstitutional mandates that have this country by the throat, delivering major regulatory relief, spending cuts, a sound monetary policy, a balanced budget, creating jobs, and a booming economy.

On stage he stood alone in his convictions to return to our founding principles as a Republic, instead of what it had become, and still is, an oligarch. He not only predicted our crisis, but had a sound solution.

He wanted to:
  • Phase out the IRS.
  • Phase out Income Tax Audit and phase out the Federal Reserve
  • End Foreign Wars
  • Bring our troops home
  • Stop all foreign aid
  • Secure our borders
  • Fix the waist in health care, which is 50 percent of the cost
  • Abolish ObamaCare
  • Repeal the Patriot Act in its entirety
  • Return power to the states, as in the 9th and 10th amendments
  • Balance the budget
  • Abolish corporate subsidies
  • Return spending to 'o6 levels
He wanted to take a yearly salary of $39,336, equal to the average US worker's salary, instead of the Presidential salary of $400,000, and his voting record showed his true nature, voting Constitution every time.

He voted to:
  • Lower taxes For a balanced budget
  • To lower Congressional Pay
  • To allow gun ownership
  • Against a National ID
  • To keep internet free
  • Against the Iraq war
  • Against bailouts
  • To limit power to the executive branch
Facts about Ron Paul:

He received the majority of his donations from individuals, where other candidates were funded mostly by special interests, banks and corporations. Ron Paul could not be bought.

Predicted the current economic collapse of 2007, in 2003. Endorses free trade, but is opposed to NAFTA. Was called the “Champion of the Constitution” by his peers.

“Believe me, the next step is a currency crisis because there will be a rejection of the dollar. The rejection of the dollar is a big, big event and then your personal liberties are going to be severely threatened.” -Ron Paul (Read his book, “END THE FED” on YouTube: “What is Constitutional money” and “Federal Reserve creates money out of thin air.”

To save us, Ron Paul wanted to re-establish Congressional authority over money. Established in 1913. the FED is an unconstitutional and secretive system, controlled by private bankers. The FED creates money out of thin air creating inflation. This leads to rising prices on everyday things like food, gas, clothing, prescription drugs, energy, and more...

Note that in the year 2000, the U.S. Debt was 5.7 trillion, in 2011 it had reached $15 trillion, around 2 trillion per year. Today we are at about 18.3 trillion, and projected to be 23.3 trillion by the end of 2015. He wanted to audit and expose the FED, who is above all law.

“Without the FED, our money could not be inflated at the behest of big government or big banks. Your income and savings would not lose their value.” -Ron Paul

“There are only two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by sword, the other is by debt.” -John Adams

“I believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money are more dangerous to liberty than a standing army.” _Thomas Jefferson

Health Care

Dr. Paul would have repealed “ObamaCare,” with reduced health care costs and restored the doctor-patient relationship. He would never have allowed the Federal Government to take over health-care, who forces all Americans to to carry only government-approved health insurance or else answer to the IRS.

He had a plan of action to balance the budget in three years, cutting 1 trillion in spending during his first year, eliminating five unnecessary and self serving government agencies, HUD, Energy, Commerce, Interior and Education. He would have ended taxes on personal savings, allowing families to save for the future, while honoring our Social Security System for our seniors and veterans, and would have given young workers the ability to opt out if they so choose, for a private fund. He would have abolished the Death Tax.

He would have lowered the corporate tax rate to 15%, making America competitive in the global market. This would have created an economic boom and a demand for made-in-America products with a large demand for jobs. Trillions would have been invested and reinvested as they would have been allowed to repatriate capital without additional taxation.

Author's notes:

The purpose of this essay, gleaned from the many pamphlets we Louisiana Libertarians distributed before the 2008 election... from the Louisiana Caucus, door to door in our neighborhoods, to the final night of the RNC betrayal of the Republican Party, America still continues to be ravaged and lied to by a one party system, a dog and pony show called Washington... We have the best government money can buy... bought and paid for by international corporations and central banks who are unaccountable to our laws, with men like George Soros creating a lucrative insider advantage in the mayhem he orchestrates... To say we are systematically being dismantled is not a stretch in a government bought and paid for by special interest lobbyists. We had a man who could have put a stop to it, but Dr. Paul was not good-looking enough for the American sensibility, with 52 percent of Christian women voting for the Progressive Socialist Marxist Obama, a good looking black man without a past. Or, to be more accurate, a past sealed from view by a court order...

Four months before the election we went from six to ten trillion in debt. And today, since Obama has been in office, we are at 18.3, with the promise of 23.3 before he gets out. And where are the voices of decent? A few thugs wanting to burn communities for a free TV and a case of beer? Face Book arm-chair patriots proposing the killing of “ rag heads?” America, what have we become? Home of the free and land of the brave? You are, we are, collectively pathetic. Yes, I remember when no one would put his sign on their lawn, closing the door on me when I asked. They knew nothing about him at all, and could not find the time to study the very profound questions that are destroying us today. Well, I guess I'm a bit bitter about it, and still afraid too, because I see the curtain falling on this nation... and I am at a loss to find a way to stop it... I could say that we will all get just what we deserve, but God, what a loss it will be to no longer have my America. We had so much, and we let it die. And the final nail will be another cold war for corporate profit, and no one cares enough to oppose it.

I remember the so called hippies at the airport, as they booed us in uniform, but it was a different time then, and I was 57 on the draft... Today, our brave service men and women volunteer, believing the lies that we are bringing Democracy to a land, as we topple duly elected Presidents for a puppet dictator, and guard poppy fields for the taste of European parties... and 95 percent of the people killed, are innocent of any crime. We call them collateral damage... But before the chant of change for the sake of change dies to a whisper, there will be no one left to write a truthful epitaph on the tombstone that was once America. And it won't matter much at all, because few would care to read it...

Slavery can come to a human being in many ways, and the most horrific is not a slavers lash, or the chains that hold you to a wall, not even debt slavery that some say is the most profound... No, the most hideous slavery of all, is subjugation of the spirit, where we voluntarily relinquish our Liberty for the crumbs off a table, or a promise to stay safe... but oh, how beautiful we are, as we pledge allegiance to America, waving the flag and bobbing our heads in unison, and never knowing why...

Liberty movement and the human mind

From the files of Ken LaRive at the Lafayette Examiner

Read the Ken LaRive File at the Examiner
Freedom does not exist, it is an illusion. It is a lie. The whole concept of freedom is false, because the mentality of what we are as human beings can not handle it... It always morphs into a tyrannical fascist ideology. This is the Liberty movement, not the freedom movement. It is liberty from tyranny we are after.

Secondly, there is no such thing as a pure Democracy. This too is a lie. It has never existed on the planet. It has always morphed into mob rule, and so into the authoritarianism of tyranny's fascism, because that is the essence of the human mindset. We can deny it, but we can know this truth by what we have done in the past, as recorded in our history.

What we were given, that we have now lost, is a Republic based on law. This quickly disintegrates because of the mindset of what it means to be a human being, where fascism and tyranny displaces it. What we have is an Oligarchy. This is what the mind of men have wrought. Power and control over others is the true nature of men, and yet a few resist.

This sir, is the Liberty movement. Define who you are, and you will have a better chance of uniting, and winning. But know that you are, and always will be, three percent, and though that is plenty enough to cut the cords that bind us all, the rest will not participate. Because slavery, just as liberty, is the reality of the mind of men... a duality in constant odds, and the reason why Liberty, once lost, is so very hard to get back.

Remember also that the goal might only be accomplished by mutual destruction. Because it is the mindset of human beings, who have gained power and control, to rather see it burned to white ashes then to relinquish their ability.

Still, I'd rather die attempting to know who I am as a Libertarian. That is a good reason for being, a worthy goal for a life, a value greater than myself. Give me Liberty, or give me death.

Standing in the shadows of monsters

Courtesy of Ken LaRive at the Lafayette Examiner

Are we on the verge of finding or losing America?

Read the LaRive Files at the Examiner
As I have moved among my fellow human beings, several elements I have learned from the experience is ultimate truth, and it is found all around the world, and in every culture.... When you display to another person that you truly love them, unless they are mentally damaged or a human deviant, they will respond in like kind. If you truly respect a person, and with love in your heart, promote their finer side, they will, in most every case, do the same to you.

Ask yourself, in your own life, how can it be otherwise? A genuine smile in front of a loving heart will pierce another soul. What you give is the seed for the life you will grow, and yet, we must admit that some men will not respond to this... where Love is an alien concept. These men, and throughout all of history, have developed another mindset... the mindset of a reprobate, and they have plagued mankind from time immemorial.

Men who have lost their way:

My definition of what it means to be a man is quite simple. It is a person who consciously chooses to accept responsibility for his own actions. Sure, sounds too simple, but this is at the core of every person... Of course this responsibility is self-designed, and different for each individual, but the concept of this duty remains constant, as the universal law of attraction.

Some try to promote what they consider to be good and right, with an amazing goal to be effectively selfless, where personal welfare is secondary to the common good, for family, country, and their God, but not always in that order, of course. This is the ideal of a hero, of honor without laurels, and they have pushed the envelop to the very limit, in war surely. but being a good husband and father too. I call them men of light. Men who are self directed... They believe that if one can find little to die for, there is little to live for.

Others find their moral code, or compass, on their selves, and forsake all empathy and responsibility for their own general welfare. They tend to place little or nothing in this life above immediate personal gratification, and since they can find little, if anything, greater than themselves, they are pulled through life by the many hooks that enslave them. They need direction, a power they trust to follow. There is hope for them, and some will gain a higher consciousness with time, and this powerful Love, I call Agape, can be understood by them in a flash of insight. These are our human brothers, no matter how lost they may find themselves.

What is this Love?

Some think that Love is a man-made concept, and an ultimate societal survival tool, and like nothing else, the veritable force that holds our humanity together. Others define Love to be God inspired... But Love, no matter the source, is not profitable in a world that judges value by a black bottom line, and some, who grasp this dark shadow as their own, no longer respond to Love, even denying it exists as they laughingly thwart its positive effects.

In our world, Love is not our guiding force, fear is. Fear is the primary factor, the underlining motivator for every human deed. If an institution can promote fear, and it is unresolved, people will do anything to survive, even living in slavery. This is the fuel for all power and control. And yet, when you find something higher than yourself to fight for, fear dissipates.

A monster:

There is another human entity who lives in the folds of our humanity, and they can only be described as monsters. I call them men of shadows, because they are so very good at hiding. In fact, this degenerate race of men not only vie to control the entire world with their evil mindset, but will use our own free will of Love to control us. They will use a mother's love to sell a bogus drug or inoculation, a father's responsibility to protect his family, while stripping them both of freedom and liberty.

They will try to control, by subliminal messaging, the minds of our children from a black box in our living room, or through the institution of indoctrination in the guise of education ... And they do far worse: they enslave by debt, and seek to control our very souls by their lascivious media lies. wrathful and vengeful violence as entertainment, and atrocious propaganda and pornography that can reach those we try to protect.

In the process of this convolution, from every direction, they win over a portion of our weakest humanity to do their evil bidding, and they mimic the very mindset of their masters. Look around, you will see these zombies everywhere. Mindless, and without a will of their own... they are mostly incapable of an original thought, and so make the perfect slave.

Ethics:

One might make the argument that selfless men are more capable of finding joy in their lives, something considered long-lasting. It is stated that this super Love, called agape, can be attained only by a pure self-less spirit, and though unattainable by the fallibility of men, it is his ultimate goal, and reason for being... But who, as a human being, can define themselves by ether of these strict descriptions?

All of us are a complex combination of both, depending on life's circumstances, and teachings. The Catholic Ideology of Situation Ethics is, to me, a good description of these selfless/selfish expressions, where we mix up good and bad and right and wrong. Situation Ethics is a worthy study, a method to find strength, conviction, and solace in your life. You don't have to be a Catholic to see this Philosophy, as it is a description of our spiritual and intellectual side, working in conjunction.

In the shadow of monsters?

A study of the world of men show that these life-personifications might not be flexible enough to withstand the constant onslaught of a power-structure designed to thrive in a world of ciaos. There is little profit in peace, earnings have no stop if unchecked, and it seems that to battle an all consuming fire, fire must be used. But this would indeed change the righteous man to be a monster too, even as in their heart they know that light will curse the darkness.

Men of shadows know that to control a populous, Love will have to be eliminated, and when civilizations are bombed into oblivion, killing their loved ones in the process, only monsters will survive. Men will pick up arms and travel across a continent killing everything in their wake, as we see now in the Middle East, and they are putty in the hands of the monster men of shadows... because they have nothing else to lose. Their lives are masterfully manipulated in the shadows their masters cast...

The tools of our shadow masters:

Who, as you stand among your fellow men, have found true solace? Who have found peace and harmony in their hearts? Loved ones get sick and die, years of hard work will vanish from savings in a trend, and we grasp the fearful unknown with blind faith as our eminent death weighs heavy. We hope our faith is the one true faith, and it will insure that we live forever in peace without suffering, and in the process to find this nebulous solace, our mind becomes glaciated, galvanized in fear to believe you have found the ultimate truth.

And as time moves fast, we are told that we must make a decision before we die, as after will be too late... and we are told not to waste these waning moments that grow more and more precious with each passing day... And as we see the light in this metaphorical tunnel grow brighter and more vivid in our mind's eye... we become more desperate, more opinionated, less tolerant of other faiths, as we try to quell the fear buried in our hearts... These are but some of the tools that monsters use to control us... One philosopher of antiquity addressed these inhibitors to happiness and Joy, and was Thomas Jefferson's favorite philosopher writer, other than the teachings of Jesus... They called him Epicurus, and he is another worthy study.

Our human breed, and the question of identity:

Let us consider the feminist movement, the civil rights movement, The Labor movement, The Skeptical movement, The Tea Party Movement, The Liberty Movement, The Progressive movement, The Libertarian Movement, The Neoconservative Movement, the Communistic Movement, the Socialistic movement, the Anti-globalization Movement, the Anti-nuclear Movement, the Anti-consumerism Movement, the 9/11 Truth Movement, the Arab Spring Movement, the Zionist Movement, the Anti-war Movement, the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Consciousness Movement, as they all beg a question,

Are they freeing us, giving us Liberty from tyranny? Or are they wrapping our society in a straight-jacket, a cocoon wound tight with intolerant separation and voluntary servitude... To say for instance that Liberty is God given, and yet must be fought for with each generation, inhibits us from ever enjoying true Liberty, as we are in constant war to keep it. If our objective is to find Joy and peace, it indicates we can never relax, never trust, never stop questioning reality. Is there something of a higher order that can help us to cope, to give solace, and strength of purpose? Yes, yes, there is.

Beyond human Ken:

Men have evolved and developed specific innate characteristics, though mostly denied today, and these distinctions have helped protect him and family in what one may consider a mostly inhospitable world. He found that when he used his spiritual side for hope and strength of purpose, and balanced it with a new-found intellect, they enabled him to be creative and visionary.

With these tools he could now look at the world with dreams of his own design, mimicking the creative spirit he saw in God, and this freed him from the enslaving shackles of evil design. He now yearned to find new ways, better ways that would give security, value, and reason to his life, and these creative ideas lit his mind. There are many men of light in the world today making dreams reality, and the reason we are now doubling our store of knowledge every four years.

Promises. Promises:

In wonder, and sometimes horror, men willed to harness earth, fire, and water, and in a blink have broken the nucleus of an atom for both good and evil. From spectacular dreams they harnessed power to move mountains, build roads, drill for oil, and advances in medicine and science are growing exponentially, recently cracking the genome code. Banding together for a common cause, men of light are now poised to break the back of disease and negative biological adversities that have plagued us from our very beginnings, and one of the most controversial is genetic modification.

Indeed, there is a real danger in these endeavors and on all fronts, as even in the quest for an understanding of this new technology, as some governments and institutions are doing with monsters at the helm, are seeing this knowledge just for the black bottom line, and power, without any consideration of morality. They promise us, over and over again, that they will forge a new age of reason, where mankind will triumph over all sickness, creating life, even conquering our ultimate death.

But no matter what promises monsters make, when the time tested duality of spirituality and intellect are progressively being ignored, most often, only his destructive nature will manifest. It is the law of attraction, the universal law of cause and effect, and it can be our salvation, or promote damnation as our ultimate manifest destiny. That is the gift of free will, where responsibility was borne.

The Value of Life:

Mankind scratches for knowledge; it is hard won. Men of light will formulate a new design, create amazing scientific advances for a specific purpose, like the use of lasers in fighting cancer without surgery, for instance, only to find out the technology can be used in a Star War program. The byproduct of an industry is put in drinking water by a powerful lobby who convinces government to mandate it at a lavish dinner party... and can you imagine what is being wrought by genetics all around the world, controlled by monsters?

A new technique of death, for instance, takes many individual inventions, for a completely new application... One, the perfection of visually seeing a child in the womb, along with a new curved syringe that can reach inside of the Fallopian tube, a new sedation for the mother, and a new, quick acting and so called “humane” poison can be administered directly into the heart of a child accurately, in the third trimester. It has been approved for use in New York this month. Is this the creation of men of light?

Are we working together for progress and a common cause, plowing forward for the good of mankind, learning and growing and trying to understand the fundamental elements that give our lives value? Or is morality and our consciousness becoming redundant and obsolete, with soulless decisions being made by morally deficient computer generations composing new avenues of profit without the human fingerprint of ethics?

How is giving 3000 abortions a day generating a value for the precious gift we call life? Still, we hope that progress will continue for the overall good of humanity, built by men of vision and their dreams of light... and yet we are horrified when we see otherwise, because it is out of a man of lights comprehension that a person could not hold themselves responsible for what they do, and would not show the least bit of remorse or guilt, as responsible men should feel. I can assure you, they feel justified, as they consider themselves super men, self-chosen to rule all others, and above the moral laws of both God and men.

Real monsters under the bed:

When the light of goodness, righteousness, and Love shines on this evil incarnate, they shrink away into the shadows like the roaches they are. Only in shadow can they exist.

Last year Russia and China sold American debt just before Russia's involvement with Ukraine. Amazingly, a mysterious financial entity of mega proportion, located in a country without a viable government, Belgium, bought them back. This is the workings of monsters, and it was well hidden from you... Read, “The Prince” by Machiavelli. Read it...

You are in it. Your true solace lies in the fact that there is a universal law, the law of cause and effect, as what you sow, so too will you reap, and as a great man once said, as he was being betrayed by his friends... “He who lives by the sword will die by it.” And as a responsible person of free will, you have an innate freedom to choose, where love or hate can have a place in you life.

Note* Please look at the movie "Mindwalk"... It describes the mindset of men of light.

Republican leaders ignore conservatives again

From the files of Jeff Crouere at WLAE-TV 32 in New Orleans, Louisiana

Visit the Jeff Crouere Website at Ringside Politics
It happened again yesterday, a painful reminder that the GOP leadership in Congress is pathetic. The President’s radical nominee for Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, was confirmed with ten Republican votes. Without Republican votes, Lynch could not have become U.S. Attorney General. Lynch will now replace Eric Holder, the most controversial and racially divisive Attorney General in American history.

In her testimony to Congress, Lynch made it clear that she would continue the policies of her liberal predecessor, support the Obama agenda, and had no problem with the President’s highly questionable use of executive power to grant amnesty to five million illegal immigrants.

According to U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), “The Senate must never confirm an individual…who will support and advance a scheme that violates our Constitution and eviscerates established law and congressional authority. No person who would do that should be confirmed. And we don’t need to be apologetic about it, colleagues.”

Despite the clear warnings from Sessions and her troubling statements to the Senate Judiciary Committee, ten Republican Senators decided to confirm her to the most important law enforcement position in the country. Among the GOP “turncoat ten” was the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. Previously, McConnell had promised to oppose Lynch if she supported the President’s executive amnesty action.

Thus, McConnell lied to his constituents and caved under pressure once again. It follows a disturbing trend of GOP congressional leaders refusing to take decisive action to oppose the onslaught of liberalism.

After the complete capitulation, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s spokesman, Adam Jentleson, gushed that McConnell “has done the right thing by bringing bills and nominations to the floor that Democrats can support.” Of course this kind of bi-partisanship was absent when Reid was Senate Majority Leader. Reid consistently torpedoed legislation passed by the Republican House. In fact, he usually prevented these bills from even being considered.

As McConnell constantly placates Democrats, House Republicans are not doing any better for they approved the funding for Obamacare and the President’s executive action on amnesty. They are taking no consequential measures regarding the liberal FCC’s attempt to regulate and tax the Internet.

Nothing of substance has been accomplished in the investigations into Fast And Furious, Benghazi, and the scandals involving the IRS and the VA. While Holder and former IRS official Lois Lerner have been held in contempt of Congress, in actuality, it has resulted in no significant penalties.

In a Bloomberg interview, House Speaker John Boehner called Bill and Hillary Clinton, “good people” and “good public servants,” but he hinted that Hillary Clinton’s email server might be subpoenaed and that the House may investigate her foundation’s suspicious fundraising activities.

On this issue, there should be no hesitation or question as the evidence mounts that Clinton turned the position of Secretary of State into a cash machine for her dubious foundation and basically sold the office.

If Republicans had any political courage, they would be holding high profile hearings and issuing non-stop subpoenas. While Democrats know how to take political advantage of a scandal, Republicans are too worried about criticism from the media and their friends in the Democratic Party.

So, the looming question is now apparent to all voters who supported Republican candidates in the mid-term elections. Why continue to support the GOP if they are going to do nothing to stop the Democrats? If the Republicans will not oppose the liberal agenda of the Democrats, when they have the power to enact a reform oriented agenda, conservatives should stop voting for them.

In effect, Republican leaders refuse to take the gloves off, and are doing nothing to promote conservatism, so their true agenda must be to facilitate the continuation of liberalism.
