Arizona - Dump McCain and Support Kelli Ward

Republican Kelli Ward who is running for U.S. Senate held a meeting Thursday night at Community Christian Church where she took several questions from the public.

Ward believes the people in the desert southwest aren’t being heard and that this is a two way street where communication is missing within the government.

She also mentions that she wouldn’t want to be in office for more than two terms because there are newer and fresher faces that need to be in office and everyone should be able to share their thoughts and ideas.

Ward adds, “Right now we’re learning who are going to have the energy that is necessary to take the country the right way. And so if I stay forever then they don’t have the chance to serve and I think the more people who have the chance to serve the better it is for our country.”

She believes Senator John McCain needs to retire and let other people have a chance as U.S. Senate.

Ward adds, “Unfortunately 33 years in Washington, D.C. changes a person and I think it’s changed Senator McCain.”

Border security and to stop illegal immigration ward mentions is on the top of her list of priorities. She tells us why she believes she’d be a great fit for our community.

Ward said, “Whenever I’m running, I’m running to be the voice of the people. I’m running to actually be you in Washington, D.C. so I’m hoping that people will see that spark, see the energy and see that I am competent, qualified and capable and ready to take the reigns of Washington, D.C. and take this country in the right direction.”

GOP presidential race - the more the merrier

This was a busy week in the GOP presidential sweepstakes as two candidates jumped into the race ~ U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and former Texas Governor Rick Perry. Currently, there are ten announced candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination and the number will surely grow.

In the coming days, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will officially announce his presidential bid. Soon thereafter, a host of others including Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will enter the fray.

In the end, there could be 16 or more Republican presidential candidates. The candidates can be grouped in many different ways. For example, some like former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will emphasize social issues. Others like Perry and Graham will emphasize national security and U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky will focus on protecting liberties guaranteed by our Bill of Rights. 

However, there is another way to group the candidates: conservative or RINO (Republican in Name Only). Clearly, Bush will be the leading RINO, but it is unclear who assume the mantle as the top conservative contender.

Due to the plethora of conservative candidates, some commentators are lamenting our embarrassment of riches. They are calling for conservatives to unite behind one candidate who can defeat Bush. However, it is far too early for any consolidation among the candidates.

Voters need to see the candidates in action, witness them in a debate setting and learn where they stand on the major issues. In essence, the Republican race is an example of a political free market as voters will be given a wide variety of choices and allowed to choose the best candidate.

The decision should rest with the voters, not a kingmaker or a news network. It is critical for all of the news networks to expand their televised debates to include all of the major candidates, not just the “top ten.” This is not college football, it is the future of the nation which is being determined and limiting the field of candidates is not only premature, but it can adversely impact the decision making ability of voters.

The networks are supposedly going to decide the “top ten” based on an average of early polls, but these flawed surveys are too influenced by name recognition. Giving voters exposure to a larger field of candidates is an essential public service, especially at this critical time when the nation is clearly in jeopardy.

This election will be the most important one in our lifetime as the next President must repair the damage done by Barack Obama to our nation’s economy, our national security and our social fabric, namely race relations.

With such important stakes, it is worth the time and effort for the networks to expand their format. If given accurate information about the candidates, Republican voters can make a positive change by nominating a true conservative in 2016.

The debates will be the best way to gauge the candidates, so the news networks should not artificially limit the debates to just ten candidates. Voters need accurate and detailed information about all the major candidates to make the best selection.

At such a critical time for our nation, Republicans are fortunate to have such a varied selection of candidates, the largest field in the party’s history. Obviously, GOP voters need to select the right candidate, so it is desirable to have many options to consider, in fact, the more the merrier.

Unfortunately, a conservative agenda will be impossible if GOP voters nominate another RINO who will lose in the General Election.

Only a conservative can defeat Hillary Clinton, spare the nation a de-facto third Obama term and begin to reverse the damage of the Obama years.

Meet Senator John McCain (R)

To no one’s surprise, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) announced his intention to run for re-election. After a distinguished military career and 5½ years as a POW in Vietnam, McCain retired from the military and entered politics.

McCain was initially elected to the House of Representatives in 1982, followed by his first Senate election in 1986. Since his initial election to the Senate, McCain has won re-election four times.

For John McCain, 34 years in Congress will not be enough, so he wants another six years as U.S. Senator. In fact, he told one reporter that his Senate career was “just getting started.” If elected again, McCain will be 86 at the end of his next term.

It is clear that the voters of Arizona need to put this “maverick” Republican out to pasture.

McCain is known as a war hawk and along with his ideological soul mate, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), has pushed for aid to “moderate” Syrian rebels even though their track record of success has been very suspect. In fact, some of those “freedom fighters” that McCain met with turned out to be members of ISIS. On this issue and many others, McCain’s judgment is very questionable.

McCain has made a career of blasting his fellow Republicans and seeking “common ground” with Democrats. During the debate on the Obama administration’s drone policy, McCain referred to his conservative Senate colleagues such as Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as “wacko birds.” Rarely, if ever, has McCain directed such disparaging language toward Democrats.

Throughout his career, McCain established close friendships with Democratic Senators such as Secretary of State John Kerry and the late Ted Kennedy, both from Massachusetts. In fact, McCain infamously partnered with Kennedy to push comprehensive immigration reform.

Their bill was never actually passed, but it inspired other pieces of legislation that pushed amnesty as a solution to the illegal immigration problem. Since that time, McCain has tried to move to the political right by adopting a tougher stance on border security, but Arizona voters should not be fooled by his convenient election year conversions.

McCain also partnered with another Democrat, former Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold to pass campaign finance reform which banned large campaign contributions to party organizations. However, it just created a vast network of independent political organizations which legally accepted unlimited political contributions outside of public scrutiny.

McCain pushed many of these initiatives to gain favor with Democrats and the media, which he often uses to criticize his own party. During his two presidential races, McCain tried to present himself as a moderate reformer who would be a different type of Republican nominee.

This generated very positive coverage from the media and it lasted until the second McCain actually became the GOP nominee. At that point, his friends in the media turned on McCain and became the equivalent of blocking backs for his opponent, Barack Obama.

In the 2008 presidential race, McCain was destroyed by Barack Obama in the general election, proving once again that moderate GOP presidential nominees are easy for Democrats to defeat.

McCain has recently tried to adopt a more conservative stance by opposing the nomination of Loretta Lynch as Attorney General. However, it is an obvious maneuver to win support in Arizona. Already Tea Party groups are getting ready to oppose McCain and this effort needs to be successful.

The only way to change Congress is to change the people who have created our problems and given the nation a debt of over $18 trillion. The ideal solution is congressional term limits.

In the meantime, the old political dinosaurs such as John McCain need to be defeated.

GOP tells conservatives to 'Go to Hell'

It happened again! Republican Party leaders told conservatives to “go to hell” in the latest indication that the GOP is controlled by establishment moderates. It is the only explanation for the infuriating vote to re-elect John Boehner as Speaker of the House.

Boehner has been a disaster as Speaker. During his tenure, conservatives have been punished and denied leadership positions, while more moderate members have selected for key roles. Under Boehner, spending has accelerated and real reform has been minimal. In fact, Boehner has been the Speaker for four of Obama’s six years in which the national debt has increased an astronomical $7.5 trillion.

The final straw was the lame duck session of Congress that occurred after the sweeping GOP victory in the November mid-term elections. Instead of listening to millions of Americans and voting to de-fund Obamacare and stop the President's unconstitutional executive order granting amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, Boehner forced Congress to placate Obama and fund both Obamacare and executive amnesty for the next year.

Boehner is the President's golfing buddy, not the type of leader who will oppose him. While the American people want the Republicans to stop the President's dangerously liberal agenda, the House Republicans under Boehner are his de-facto allies.

This betrayal enraged conservatives who bombarded Congress with demands that Republicans select a new Speaker. Phone calls overwhelmed the congressional switchboard, while millions of emails were sent to Republican members of Congress telling them to listen to the people and not the Beltway power brokers.

The conservative website, World Net Daily, organized a “Dump Boehner” campaign, resulting in almost 600,000 letters being sent to Congress. This anger was not limited to only party activists as a recent national survey of Republicans and Independent voters who lean toward the GOP by pollster Pat Caddell showed weak support for Boehner with 60% supporting “someone new” as Speaker.

Despite the legitimate outcry from the millions of conservatives who are the grassroots engine that drives the Republican Party, the members of the GOP congressional delegation ignored their demands and re-elected Boehner to a third term. While there were a historic number of votes against Boehner in his bid for a third term as Speaker, it was not enough to stop his re-election.

This means that once again conservatives have been taken for granted. Boehner was re-elected despite the news uncovered by Dr. Jerome Corsi that the Speaker has a stock portfolio that includes millions of dollars invested in insurance and healthcare companies that are increasing in value due to Obamacare. Thus, he has a financial incentive to disregard the party's base and continue to implement the President's plans for socialized medicine.

After this latest betrayal, conservatives should reexamine their allegiance to the Republican Party. It has been many years since the party acted in accordance with conservative principles. While the grassroots keep electing Republicans to Congress and gave the GOP big victories in 2010 and 2014, the party leadership never acts in accordance with these mandates.

Republicans campaign as conservatives, but govern like liberals.

With Boehner elected to another term as Speaker, nothing will change on Capitol Hill. It will be more of the same in the next two years, so Americans can expect deficit spending to continue, Obamacare and executive amnesty to be fully funded and no real change in Washington D.C.

If conservatives are demoralized with this inaction, the Republicans have no prayer of winning the White House in 2016. At this point, especially if the GOP nominates a big government RINO like Jeb Bush for President, it certainly looks like Hillary Clinton can start measuring the curtains for another stay in the White House.

Meet Tom Coburn

This is Senator Tom Coburn's last year in the Senate.

It would have been his last term anyway, because he's an honorable man and adheres to his term limits promise.

He first ran for the congressional seat held by Mike Synar.

I would not have supported Coburn because at that time I was a deluded Democrat. Fortunately I changed and he didn't.
