Tom Brady poised for the win

Judge Richard M. Berman will be forgotten in a few weeks once the NFL season kicks off. Until then, you should know him as a hero.

He’s a hero because for most of Wednesday, he called out the NFL and Tom Brady on the petty nonsense that has ensued for the better part of eight months.

“What is the direct evidence that implicates Mr. Brady?”

Berman asked NFL lawyer Daniel L. Nash repeatedly, demanding to know what evidence directly links the New England quarterback to deflated footballs.

Nash could only say that there was considerable evidence Brady knew about Deflategate, which was another point of contention for Berman.

“This Deflategate. I’m not sure where the ‘gate’ comes from.”

He also pointed out that Brady actually played better with properly inflated balls in the second half.

“You might say (Brady) got no better advantage from the under-inflation,” Berman said.

No one is leaving these court proceedings looking well. But Judge Berman appears determined to leave laughing.

Really, it’s the only thing you can do in the face of such overwhelming nonsense.
