Mo Brooks questions NASA Administrator

Space Subcommittee Vice-Chair Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks questioned NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, Jr., during a hearing on the Administration’s FY2017 budget proposal for NASA.

In his opening remarks, Brooks applauded the selection of Todd May as the new Director of Marshall Space Flight Center, and thanked his predecessor, Patrick Scheuermann, for his many years of service and leadership at NASA, especially at Marshall.

During Brooks’ questioning, Administrator Bolden praised Huntsville’s Marshall Space Flight Center, highlighting the Center’s strategic role as a hub for rocket propulsion.

Congressman Brooks questioned Administrator Bolden on NASA’s efforts to integrate rocket propulsion expertise in deep space travel on the Journey to Mars. Administrator Bolden responded, “There is no question . . . whether we are talking to DoD or anybody else outside of NASA, that Marshall is the place that people go when they want to discuss in-space and leaving-the-Earth propulsion issues.”

Brooks requested further specifics: “Earlier this week at an appropriations hearing, you spoke about the need for ‘game changing’ propulsion.

Do you support Nuclear Thermal Propulsion, and what role do you see it playing in the Journey to Mars?” Bolden answered, “We are on a Journey to Mars and most people believe that—in the end—Nuclear Thermal Propulsion will probably be the most effective form of propulsion to get there. . . .

Again, Marshall is the dominant Center, they have most of the capability there, and they’re working with some of their local contractors who are helping them with developing Nuclear Thermal Propulsion.”

A revolt if GOP stops the peoples voice

Lieutenant Colonel Allen West joined Brian Kilmeade to discuss the current leader of the GOP Presidential contenders for 2016, Donald Trump.

If The GOP Doesn’t Allow The Voice Of The People To Be Heard. Because if people start to believe that there is shenanigans and back door deals going on, there will be a revolt.

Green Evangelicals: Masters of Disguise

The evangelical “creation care” movement professes to be pro-life and, for the most part, rightly so. But some creation care advocates give reason to wonder.

Case in point: the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) recently launched a “Pro-Life Clean Energy Campaign,” promising to “organize half a million pro-life Christians to participate” in efforts to curb pollution by demanding a switch from fossil fuels to wind and solar. It calls this campaign “pro-life” and says it will “free our children from pollution all across America with 100% clean electricity from renewable resources by 2030.”

Even if it were true that pollution from generating electricity from fossil fuels endangers children—and modern pollution control technologies and actual emission levels make this assertion questionable—the reasoning is ethically fallacious.

The Bible makes a stark and fundamental distinction between intentional and accidental killing. When God instructed Israel to provide “cities of refuge” in the Promised Land, He said:
If anyone kills his neighbor unintentionally without having hated him in the past—as when someone goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and his hand swings the axe to cut down a tree, and the head slips from the handle and strikes his neighbor so that he dies—he may flee to [a city of refuge] and live, lest the avenger of blood … strike him fatally, though the man did not deserve to die, since he had not hated his neighbor in the past.
But if anyone hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and attacks him and strikes him fatally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities, then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die. [Deuteronomy 19:4–6, 11–12]

Most legal systems today incorporate this fundamental ethical distinction, as by distinguishing accidental killing from negligent deaths, and intentional but not premeditated from premeditated homicide. They typically inflict no criminal penalty on the first and graduated penalties on the rest.

Some American evangelicals fail to make this distinction today. That failure weakens the pro-life movement and their pro-life arguments.

Like most ethics professors, when Dr. Beisner taught ethics in seminary, he made sure his students understood that proper ethical judgment considers carefully both the intent and the outcome of our acts. EEN’s campaign ignores that distinction and twists the facts about the outcomes.

The campaign morally equates fossil fuel electricity generation with abortion. However, the ethical differences between abortion and pollution are glaring.

First, the intent differs. In abortion, the intent is to kill a baby. In energy production, the intent is to provide energy that people need to sustain life and health. Any pollution that is a byproduct of energy production is an unintended risk—like the risk of an axe head flying off while cutting wood.

Second, the factual outcomes differ. In abortion, the outcome of every “successful abortion” is a dead baby. In energy production, the outcome of the energy produced is enhanced human health, living standards, and life spans.

The effect of any pollution byproducts may be a slight reduction in some people’s health—but certainly not enough to outweigh the intended beneficial outcome. By contrast, the result of denying people access to affordable electricity is often to reduce their living standards, health, and life spans.

The term “pro-life” was coined in the 1970s to designate those who sought to restrict abortion. That has been its primary meaning ever since. To apply it to efforts to reduce the relatively small risks from pollution from electricity energy generation in the United States is to cheapen the term.

Moreover, EEN’s campaign does more than cheapen the term. Expanding on efforts that it began four years ago with its “Mercury and the Unborn” campaign, EEN’s current campaign continues the organization’s practice of disseminating erroneous information about pollution.

EEN’s previous campaign claimed that mercury from power plant emissions put 1 in 6 American infants at risk of “devastating … permanent brain damage.” In reality, the number exposed to enough mercury to have detectable effects was closer to 1 in 1,000; the risk was a delay in neurological development so slight as to be detectable only by trained specialists; and even that risk disappears in most children by age seven.

In no case does it exceed about a half-point reduction in IQ, a difference common in identical twins raised in the same household. Further, less than 5% of mercury in US air comes from power plants.

Ironically, implementing EEN’s demand for “100% clean electricity from renewable resources by 2030” would likely impair human health or even kill more people than the pollution it prevented. By raising the cost of electricity, the mercury regulations alone are calculated to cost about 2,500 to 4,250 deaths per year.

Getting 100% of our electricity from “renewable sources” (basically wind and solar) would cost multiples more. (The US Supreme Court ultimately struck down the Environmental Protection Agency’s mercury regulation, for these and other reasons, but EPA had already implemented it.)

Nonetheless, by morally equating the risks from power plant emissions with abortion, EEN justified applauding members of Congress who supported EPA’s proposed mercury regulation as “sensitive to pro-life concerns”—and chastening members who opposed it as not “sensitive to pro-life concerns.”

Whom did EEN applaud? Among the 13 members named, Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin (both D-MI) both had 100% pro-abortion voting records in the 110th Congress (2007–2008), and Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe (both R-ME) and David Pryor (D-AR) all had 78% pro-abortion voting records. Only two of the 13, Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) and Cong. Bob Latta (R-OH), had 100% pro-life voting records.

By broadening the definition of “pro-life” as it does, EEN obscures its meaning. By describing people with 100% pro-abortion voting records as “pro-life” solely because of their environmental views, EEN divides the pro-life movement, extols suspect health claims, and ignores the benefits of fossil fuels.

As a result, EEN makes it more difficult to identify and elect truly pro-life people to office, and thereby postpones or prevents victory in the long struggle to end the intentional slaughter of hundreds of thousands of babies every year in the United States (over 52 million since the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973).

Further, by presenting its environmental concerns as “pro-life,” EEN draws activists away from truly pro-life work into environmental causes tightly tied to the population control movement, which promotes abortion all around the world.

It also delays bringing reliable, affordable electricity to billions who do not yet enjoy its wondrous benefits, and thus prolongs their poverty, disease, and premature deaths. These consequences are now so obvious and undeniable that promoting anti-fossil fuel policies in poor nations amounts to reckless disregard for human suffering and death—hardly a pro-life position.

Four years ago, more than 30 pro-life leaders signed a statement repudiating EEN’s deceptive mercury campaign. Now concerned citizens can join many more in signing a new statement condemning EEN’s deceptive “Pro-Life Clean Energy Campaign” for the same reasons.

By all means, let us be good stewards of God’s creation. Let us seek ways to reduce risks posed by pollution, while still providing the abundant, affordable, dependable energy that is indispensable to lifting entire societies out of abject poverty and enabling them to enjoy the health and living standards we do.

And in seeking to reduce relatively small and unintentional risks, let us not undermine the efforts of truly pro-life people to end the killing of millions of babies here and abroad every year.

12 Obamacare Co-Ops bill taxpayers $1.2billion

Click Here to Check Out Judicial Watch

More than half of the government-funded nonprofit health insurers created by Obamacare have failed, sticking taxpayers with a $1.2 billion tab and leaving hundreds of thousands of people in more than a dozen states scrambling for medical coverage, a new federal audit reveals.

The nonprofit insurers are known as Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan Program (CO-OP) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has pumped $2.4 billion into them under the president’s hostile takeover of the nation’s healthcare system.

Congress initially allocated $6 billion for the Obamacare CO-OP program, with the goal of establishing CO-OPs in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia. Thankfully, subsequent legislation slashed funding for the ill-fated experiment.

In all, HHS has funded 23 of these dubious enterprises and 12 have already gone under after losing an astounding $1.2 billion that’s unlikely to ever be recovered. As a result 740,000 people in 14 states must search for new medical coverage they thought they had under the disastrous Obamacare plan.

Every resident of the United States who pays taxes should be outraged by this monstrous failure, exposed in great detail in a scathing report published by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The committee’s probe reveals that, even when the CO-OPs showed clear signs of financial failure, HHS kept giving them huge amounts of money in the form of “loans” the agency knew would never be repaid.

In fact, HHS officials knew of serious problems with enrollment strategies, financial forecasts, management and pricing before approving the first loan, according to the panel’s findings. “HHS approved the failed CO-OPs despite receiving specific warnings from a third-party analyst about weaknesses in their business plans,” the report states.

The CO-OPs ultimately racked up a breath-taking $376 million in losses in 2014 and more than $1 billion in losses in 2015 yet the cash kept flowing. HHS knew how serious the problem was, according to the report, yet kept filling the CO-OP’s coffers.

By the end of 2014, the 12 collapsed insurance nonprofits had already exceeded their projected worst-case-scenarios by more than $263 million, four times more than what they initially projected. Incredibly, that didn’t stop Obama’s minions at HHS from doling out another $848 million even as the CO-OPS were on a downhill spiral.

“Even though HHS was aware of serious financial distress suffered by the CO-OPs in 2014, it failed to take any corrective action or enhance oversight for more than a year,” the senate investigation found, confirming that the health agency “regularly received key financial information from the CO-OPs” that clearly showed the failed insurers “experienced severe financial losses that quickly exceeded even the worst-case loss projections.”

For example the Kentucky CO-OP lost $50.4 million in 2014 yet went on to get enough taxpayer money to lose another $114 million the following year before ultimately collapsing, according to the report. When the Kentucky CO-OP went under its operating losses exceeded $163 million.

Another example listed by the panel is the New York CO-OP, which lost an egregious $634 million in two years. The Illinois CO-OP lost $90 million. Even Maine’s CO-OP, which made $7.3 million in 2014, went on to lose $74 million the following year. Maryland’s CO-OP was the most successful of the remaining government-funded insurers and it lost a startling $10.8 million.

A number of other examples of this massive boondoggle are listed throughout the report, which cites previous audits by different government entities documenting the many failures the Obamacare CO-OP program.

“The financial toll of this failed experiment is much steeper than has been previously reported,” according to this latest audit, which took nearly a year to be completed. “The twelve closed CO-OPs ran up more than $1.4 billion in losses over just the two years they sold plans.

Based on the latest balance sheets obtained by the Subcommittee, the failed CO-OPs currently estimated non-loan liabilities (including unpaid medical bills) exceed $1.13 billion—which is 93% greater than their $585 million in reported assets.

In addition, the CO-OP’s debt to the U.S. government stands at over $1.2 billion. Prospects for repayment are dim.” Indeed, American taxpayers have once again been cheated.

People's Voice in the SCOTUS Nomination

Alabama Senator Richard Shelby released the following statement in response to President Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court of the United States:

“President Obama and I strongly disagree on which direction to take our nation, and I believe that we should do everything in our power to block him from further damaging the future of America.

Rather than nominating an individual who will preserve the conservative legacy of the late Antonin Scalia, President Obama is attempting to solidify his liberal agenda by drastically changing the direction of the Court for decades to come.

This critical decision should be made after the upcoming presidential election so that the American people have a voice.

I am adamantly opposed to any Senate action on President Obama’s nomination of Judge Garland to the Supreme Court, and I urge my conservative colleagues to join me.”

Concluded Senator Shelby, "The American People Deserve a Voice in SCOTUS Nomination"

Call a weather disaster and wait for the check

In 1930 if you told Big Government progressives in coming years they would be able to charge taxpayers for weather while increasing the size and power of the federal government, I doubt you would have been believed.

People weren’t as credulous then.

Today common weather events are declared “disasters” and governors go to Washington begging for federal handouts. That’s how taxpayers in Minnesota and Wisconsin wind up paying for a snow storm in Virginia.

The fact Virginia drivers lose control of their bowels when a snowflake hits the highway is not the fault of residents in the other 49 states. In fact none of this is the fault or responsibility of any other taxpayer outside the affected states.

These giveaways might stop if those same Minnesota and Wisconsin taxpayers demanded to know why their representatives sit idly by while the Commonwealth picks their pockets, but usually the only media coverage is in the states getting the money, not those being fleeced.

ISIS takes a devastating blow

They’ve generated revenue — thanks to our recalcitrance in disrupting their flow of black market oil. We reported here this week on the capture of the head of the ISIS chemical weapons unit — a former acolyte of Saddam Hussein.

And don’t forget the indecisive John Kerry who can’t determine if the intended slaughter of Christians by ISIS is genocide or not. It’s a sad way that history repeats itself, and here we are again with the United States of America on the wrong side.

And now we have further evidence of exactly how well organized ISIS is with their global recruiting efforts. As reported by Fox News, “Germany’s federal criminal police said Thursday they are in possession of files containing personal data on members of the extremist Islamic State group and believe them to be authentic.

The announcement came after Britain’s Sky News reported it had obtained 22,000 Islamic State files on the border with Turkey and Syria, files that detail ISIS fighters’ real names, where they were from, telephone numbers, and even names of those who sponsored and recruited the militants.

Sky said the files were passed on to them on a memory stick stolen from the head of Islamic State’s internal security police by a former fighter who had grown disillusioned with the group. Germany’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported it had also obtained “dozens” of similar files on the Turkey-Syria border, where it said Islamic State files and videos were widely available from anti-ISIS Kurdish fighters and also members of the Islamic State group itself.”

Though the significance of these files is yet to be gauged, they could be the largest yet treasure trove of documents found on ISIS and the most significant leak on its past and present fighters and operations across the Mideast.

They could also shape the campaign against the extremist group, which emerged from Al Qaeda in Iraq. The cache, exposing its members and their families, could undermine its future ability to recruit and inspire would-be members.

US Army Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State, said the information could help the coalition fight the Islamic State group by aiding in a crack-down on ISIS’s foreign fighter networks.

“This would allow the law enforcement apparatus across the world to become much more engaged and begin to help do what we can to stem this flow of foreign fighters — so we’re hopeful that its accurate and if so we certainly plan to do everything we can to help,” he said.”

The files are actually 23-question “job applications” for ISIS.

NBC reports The questions start off mundane — name, nickname, date of birth, education — and then shift to the more sinister.

KKK grand dragon endorses Hillary

When David Duke — a washed-up former KKK grand wizard who used his brief, unsuccessful flirtations with Louisiana politics almost a quarter-century ago to get bookings on “Geraldo” — “endorsed” Donald Trump, the media went absolutely crazy.

However, when a current KKK leader said that he was for a surprising candidate — Hillary Clinton — the media were silent or said that they were “skeptical” about his decision.

Will Quigg is grand dragon of one of the KKK’s many sundry and pathetic splinter groups, this one in California. He’s responsible for recruitment in the Western United States, and he just gave his endorsement to Hillary Clinton.
“We want Hillary Clinton to win,” Quigg said in an interview with the U.K. Telegraph. “She is telling everybody one thing, but she has a hidden agenda. She’s telling everybody what they want to hear so she can get elected, because she’s Bill Clinton’s wife, she’s close to the Bushes. (But) once she’s in the presidency, she’s going to come out and her true colors are going to show.”
“Border policies are going to be put in place. Our Second Amendment rights that she’s saying she’s against now, she’s not against.

“She’s just our choice for the presidency,” he added.

The grand dragon had previously endorsed Trump, but changed to Clinton after hearing about her “hidden agenda.”

Mo Brooks: America must learn from Venezuala

Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks continued his series of House floor speeches highlighting “bad example” countries who are reaping the consequences of financially irresponsible leadership, and again called on America to balance the budget before it is too late.

In today’s address, Rep. Brooks assessed Venezuela’s “out-of-control spending financed by more borrowing and higher debt – the same temptation Washington politicians have succumbed to for decades,” and their resulting economic collapse.

Brooks stated, “Mr. Speaker, America has led the world culturally, scientifically, militarily, in freedom, and in many other ways. But if America does not stop its overspending and binge borrowing, then we are doomed to follow the footsteps of countries that chose to be financially irresponsible, and are condemned to suffer the same dire consequences.

America need not speculate on our fate; rather, America must learn from ‘bad example’ countries such as Venezuela, a socialist country that has already walked the financially irresponsible path America unfortunately is on.”

Brooks continued, “The IMF (International Monetary Fund) reports Venezuela is experiencing ‘widespread shortages of essential goods—including food—exacting a tragic toll.’ Grocery stores have rows and rows of empty shelves. Venezuelans can’t find food to feed their families and form long lines outside of stores, hoping to buy whatever is in stock, from sugar to shampoo . . . . Inflation and food shortages are only the tip of the iceberg.

When supplies run out, when jobs can’t be found, violence erupts. In just one month in 2014, violent street riots killed 43 Venezuelans, blocking citizens from accessing food, transportation, and medical services. Occupied buildings were torched, injuring hundreds.”

Brooks concluded, “Mr. Speaker, time is running out. Washington must balance the budget before America’s debt burden spirals out of control. America cannot wait until our financial crisis is lost and it is too late to prevent the debilitating insolvency and bankruptcy that await us.”

Hillary can't explain Obamacare costs

Whether intended or not, an Ohio woman dropped two lines during an exchange with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that sum up many of the problems the Democratic party currently has with the American public.

Teresa O’Donnell of Powell, Ohio, told the Democratic presidential candidate during Sunday evening’s CNN Democratic Town Hall that she:
“…would like to vote Democratic, but it has cost me a lot of money.
And I’m just wondering if Democrats really realize how difficult it has been on working-class Americans to finance Obamacare.”
O’Donnell, who voted in the past for President Obama, went on to note that in the two years since the Affordable Care Act became law, her family’s monthly premium rate has “skyrocketed” from $490 a month to $1,080.

Voting early is foolish voting

On Tuesday evening, presidential primary votes will be counted in five important states: Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio. But in just one of those states will March 15 actually be the day of the primary election.

Missouri has resisted the early-voting fad; it is one of only 13 states in which voters do not have the option of casting a ballot weeks before Election Day. Which means that when Missourians vote, there is one thing they know for sure: Their ballot will count.

But for tens of thousands of voters in this week's other primary states, there was no such assurance.

In Illinois, for example, where polling places opened on Feb. 29, Ben Carson enthusiasts who rushed to cast a vote for their man effectively disenfranchised themselves: Carson suspended his campaign on March 4. Any Illinois votes cast for him will count for nothing.

It may have been convenient to show up at the polling place two weeks before Election Day — no lines, no weather worries — but for anyone who backed Carson, it was also a complete waste of time.

Primary voting in Ohio was even more of a crapshoot. Voters in the Buckeye State were eligible to cast their ballots as early as Feb. 17. Jeb Bush was still in the race then; he didn't drop out until after the South Carolina primary on Feb. 20. So early-voting Ohioans who couldn't wait to lock in their support for Bush (or Carson) ended up locking in zilch.

Early-voting laws were promoted as democratic and efficient; make voting easier, advocates argued, and voter turnout will rise. They were wrong: The data suggest that early-voting options decrease turnout. In a 2013 study published in the American Journal of Political Science, researchers found that early voting appears to "lower the likelihood of turnout by three to four percentage points."

What is true in other areas of life is true of the franchise: Make voting so effortless as to be trivial, and voters will value it less.

But the real downside to early voting, especially in a volatile primary campaign like this year's Republican presidential competition, is that voters come to the ballot without having equal access to relevant information. Think of everything that has happened in the campaign since Feb.17, when Ohio's early-voting window opened:

The GOP candidates held three debates — in Houston, Detroit, and Miami. Donald Trump had to be prodded to repudiate the support of David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan. Mitt Romney delivered a blistering televised address condemning Trump's candidacy. The trash talk between Trump and Marco Rubio sank to R-rated lows.

Rubio urged his Ohio supporters to vote for John Kasich. News stories, spurred by debate questions, focused attention on lawsuits against the now-defunct Trump University. Bernie Sanders won a stunning upset over Hillary Clinton in the Michigan primary.

Campaigns relish early-voting laws because it enables them to "bank" votes — early voters who have second thoughts are stuck, even if Election Day is still days or weeks away. And it stands to reason that at least some voters do have second thoughts: In Louisiana's primary this month, Trump overwhelmingly carried early voters, but narrowly lost to Cruz among voters who waited until Election Day.

The whole point of having staggered primaries is to allow later voters to take account of new developments and fresh information, yet that's exactly the benefit that early voting undercuts. The transformation of Election Day into Election Month has proved one of our less successful democratic experiments. Voting works better when we do it together — not when each of us decides that we don't feel like waiting any longer.

Republicans smack down the IRS

Millions of Americans are filing their taxes this month—and getting a good reminder of why they despise the IRS. But thanks to the Republican majority in Congress, the IRS is being forced to start cleaning up its act.

When the IRS scandal broke, Congress demanded answers from the agency’s top officials. Were they targeting groups for their religious and political beliefs?

No, they said, it was just a few rogue employees in Ohio—if anything at all. Well, what happened to Lois Lerner’s emails? Oh, they were lost in a tragic hard drive crash. Shouldn’t we update our laws to prevent future abuses? Don’t worry, the IRS responded with a cavalier attitude, we’ve got it covered.

By shining sunlight on the IRS, we demonstrated that conservative groups were being targeted for abuse based on their political beliefs. Many important—and perhaps, incriminating—emails were destroyed. And no safeguards were installed to stop any of it from happening again.

It’s not as if President Barack Obama was going to demand change at the IRS. His first reaction was to blame all this on “some boneheaded decisions.”

So we took action. We didn’t just prolong the investigation. We put into place reforms to shift the balance of power back to the taxpayer.

For example, in 2011, we learned that the IRS was threatening to impose the gift tax on donors to conservative nonprofits, which would have forced many of these groups to close their doors. So Congress passed a law to make it clear that these donations are exempt.

There is now a codified Taxpayer Bill of Rights hanging at every IRS building across the country. Because of the actions we’ve taken, agency employees like Lois Lerner can no longer use their personal email addresses for official business. Organizations can self-declare their tax-exempt status, and if the IRS rescinds their status, they have the right to appeal.

As a result of our legislation, if the IRS compromises an organization’s confidential information, it can learn exactly what happened and who is responsible. And finally, political targeting is now a firing offense.

This is the difference a Republican majority has made, but we still have much more to do.

Just weeks ago, we learned that a cyber attack may have breached the accounts of more than 700,000 taxpayers. That’s more than double the agency’s original estimate. All Americans deserve to have confidence that they will be treated fairly by the IRS—and our work won’t stop until this is a reality.

The single best thing we can do to rein in the IRS is to fix our tax code. Instead of a tax code all of us can live by, we have a code that none of us can understand. We need to simplify the code so that it helps create jobs and raise wages. And that’s why tax reform is at the top of our agenda to restore a confident America.

Administration has NO ISIS detainee policy yet

US military won’t hold ISIS detainees more than 30 days but the policy is not ‘nailed down’

The U.S. military has no plans to hold captured Islamic State operatives for more than a month before turning them over to the Iraqi government, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition based in Baghdad told reporters Friday.

“Fourteen to 30 days is a ballpark figure, but even that is not really completely nailed down,” said Col. Steve Warren, a U.S. military spokesman based in Baghdad. “There isn’t a hard definition of short-term.”

On Thursday, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook also made clear that the policy for holding operatives is, at best, evolving. He said they would be handled on a “case-by-case” basis over a “short-term” period.

The lack of a well-defined policy for handling captured ISIS terrorists is in turn raising concerns on Capitol Hill.

“The law requires a comprehensive detainee policy,” a congressional aide said. “By definition, ‘we’ll figure it out if we ever capture anyone’ is not a comprehensive policy. “

Some on Capitol Hill are concerned the vague short-term detention policy hampers the U.S. military’s ability to gather intelligence, particularly in the wake of administration plans to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

A 'Special Place in Hell' for Hillary

Patricia Smith, whose son Sean was killed in the 2012 terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, responded to Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statement about her being “absolutely wrong” by saying there’s “a special place in hell” for people like Clinton “and I hope she enjoys it there” on Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Intelligence Report with Trish Regan.”

Smith said, “She lied to me. She told me it was a fault of the video. … And she knew full well it wasn’t at that time. And then she says, she was going to check, and if it’s any different, she would call me back. She would let me know.

She has never once spoken to me, or her office.

The only thing I ever got out of them is that I am not a member of the immediate family, and I don’t need to know.”
