ISIS seeking new terror bases in Libya

U.S. General Stewart reveals ISIS seeks new terror bases in Libya - Warns West as jihadist army demonstrates regional power by Jerome Corsi

Mabrook Oil Field in Libya Under Attack

Following a report Wednesday that “unknown gunmen” stormed the al-Mabrook oil field in Libya, the jihadist army ISIS claimed responsibility, confirming warnings by a Libyan ambassador that ISIS covets Libya as a global terror base.
“Insufficient attention is paid in the West to the ISIS’ creeping expansion in Libya, where the jihadis are focusing on capturing oil fields, as in Syria,” said retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, a founding member of the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi.

Vallely noted the al-Mabrook oil field, south of Sirte, is one of the largest in Libya.
WND previously reported the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi’s interim report concluding that the Obama administration rejected an offer by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi to abdicate and instead armed militia affiliated with al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood to oust Gadhafi by military force.

As a consequence, Libya has become destabilized, with jihadist militia ruling many areas of the country by force.

“Libya has become a nightmare for everyone,” said Mabruk Derbésh, Ph.D., a university professor in economics at Tripoli University for seven years before the current chaos. “Today, as a result, the situation in Libya is demoralizing not just for outsiders and political analysts around the world, but also and notably for Libyans whose hopes for better life has turned into a nightmare constructed beneath the hardcovers of a Stephen Kings’ novel.”

ISIS is showing a regional presence that extends far beyond Syria and Iraq, the head of the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency, Gen. Vincent Stewart, disclosed Tuesday at a briefing to the House Armed Forces Committee.

At least 20 terrorist organizations in Egypt, Libya and Algeria had recently joined ISIS and were operating under its orders, Stewart said.

In his prepared testimony, Stewart said that with “affiliates in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, the group is beginning to assemble a growing international footprint that includes ungoverned and under governed areas.”

“Similarly, the flow of foreign fighters into, and out of, Syria and Iraq – many of whom are aligned with [ISIS] – is troubling. In 2015, we expect [ISIS] to continue its outreach to other elements of the global extremist movement, and to continue benefitting from a robust foreign terrorist fighter flow.”

Jihadists of the Ansr Bayt al-Maqdis, a Sinai-based terror group that swore allegiance to ISIS last year, launched four separate attacks in the northern Sinai Peninsula last week. The attackers used mortars and car bombs that targeted military and police sites, resulting in at least 30 people dead, including several civilians, according to medical and security officials on the scene.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was forced to cut short a visit to Ethiopia to attend a summit of the African Union to direct the Egyptian army attacks on terrorist hideouts in the Sinai.

Military experts say not a war on terror

Change the Name to Global War Against Radical Islam from Jerome Corsi at WND

Major General Paul Vallely and Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney

Retired Army Major General Paul Vallely and retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney – co-authors of the 2004 bestselling book “Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror” – announced they have decided to change their designation of a “War on Terror” to a refocused “Global War Against Radical Islam.”

Available on Amazon
“We decided we had to redefine the terms so people understand radical Islam, as a political ideology, not a religion, has declared war on us,” Vallely explained in an exclusive WND telephone interview.

“Whether the American people realize it or not, radical Islam has declared war on the West since 1979, when Ayatollah Khomeini took over Iran and held 52 American diplomats and citizens hostage for 444 days.”

Vallely and McInerney believe “it is important we tell the American people directly what this conflict is about, and the truth is this isn’t a war on terror, it’s a global war against radical Islam.”

Vallely argued “radical Islamic terrorists are the one that initiated this war against the West, declaring openly their goal to expand a global caliphate from Turkey down to Saudi Arabia, and across Africa, in a move to go global.”

“So, what are we fighting here? Is it criminality? No, it’s a global war started by radical Islam with a goal of expanding a political caliphate under Shariah law worldwide,” he said. “The point is that when you really look honestly at the situation, we are currently in a global war initiated by radical Islamists who intend to expend their political control around the globe.”

Vallely expressed strong concern over President Obama’s unwillingness to call the Paris murders at the satire magazine Charlie Hebdo an act of radical Islamic terrorism.

“President Obama actions since his 2009 speech in Cairo have indicated that he is a Muslim sympathizer,” Vallely charged.

On June 4, 2009, President Obama gave a speech on “A New Beginning” at Cairo University in which in which he spoke of “civilization’s debt to Islam.”

“So, I have known Islam on there continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed,” Obama said. “That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn’t. And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

In contrast, Vallely referred back to his two in-person meetings last year with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

“President el-Sisi is probably the most outstanding Muslim leader in the Middle East right now, because he has called for a fundamental change in radical Islam, and he has criminalized the Muslim Brotherhood as an extremist terror-supporting organization,” Vallely said.

“He explained to me eye-to-eye that he has to look through ‘the reality prism’ of the Middle East, while the politicians in the United States continue to look through the ‘political prism’ to guide them rather than the realities of the world.”

Vallely explained he considered it to be a profound statement, because in the United States, politicians, including Obama, are “always looking through the political prism,” afraid to offend Islam.

“In the United States, political correctness amounts to nothing more than appeasing Islam,” he insisted. “The truth is that we are in a global war with radical Islam that is a war of culture, a war of ideology, and there’s no getting away from that truth. That’s the reality prism. To declare that we are in a global war with radical Islam is the reality of what’s going on.”

Vallely contrasted Sisi’s advice with the politically correct statements of French politicians appeasing Islam, going back to the three-weeks of rioting in French housing projects in 2005 when more than 8,000 automobiles were incinerated by angry Islamic youth. The threat has led authorities to create “no-go” zones in Paris and other European cities that are dominated by Islamic extremists.

Vallely referenced the Obama administration’s current effort to establish positive relations with the Mullahs controlling Iran.

“The Obama administration has been trying to appease Islam, and what we have now in the Middle East as a result is expanding war and chaos,” he said.

He criticized the Obama administration for having no effective strategy for dealing with Islamic terrorists.

“You could say the Obama administration has a weak strategy against radical Islam, but the truth is the Obama administration has no strategy against radical Islam,” he said.

Vallely noted morale in the U.S. military under the Obama administration is said to be at a low point, with top level military being purged by the Obama administration because “they are out of synch” with officials like Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice, who he claimed are “clueless on a strategy” to combat radical Islam.

Under the Obama administration, many top military commanders are retiring early, he said, “because with this group in the White House you either get along or you get going.”

Pentagon tapes indict Hillary say Army Generals

Admirals and Generals: Pentagon Tapes Indict Hillary by Jerome Corsi

New revelations back damning conclusion of Benghazi commission

Clinton and Obama discuss the Libya crisis at White House a press conference

Recordings of top Pentagon officials in 2011 strongly criticizing Hillary Clinton for leading a State Department “march to war” against Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi in 2011 and for working with the Muslim Brotherhood confirm the conclusions of the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi, according to members who spoke to WND.

CCB members said the recordings revealed by the Washington Times provide additional evidence to support the group’s interim report concluding the Obama administration “changed sides” in Libya, rejecting an effort by Gadhafi to abdicate and choosing instead to arm al-Qaida-affiliated militia seeking to forcibly oust the dictator.

“The release of the Pentagon secret tapes by the Washington Times today validates the CCB interim report that the Libyan war was totally unnecessary, since it now has been validated that Gadhafi was willing to abdicate and that he had no intention of causing a humanitarian crisis, as promoted by Hillary’s State Department,” said Lyons, a former four-star admiral who served as the commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific and a founding member of the CCB.

“It is long past time that the Obama administration and especially his then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton come clean about why they were so determined to turn on Gadhafi – our ally in the war against al-Qaida – and instead chose to arm and support al-Qaida militias fighting to overthrow him,” said Clare Lopez, a former career operations officer with the CIA and currently vice president for research at the Washington-based Center for Security Policy.

Lopez said it’s “critical to note that Gadhafi was actively engaged with Department of Defense officials to arrange discussions about his possible abdication and exile when that promising development was squashed by the Obama White House.”

“The Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi has been asking ‘Why?’ for well over a year now,” she said. “It is time the American people and the families of those who fought and gave their lives at Benghazi in September 2012 were told why those brave Americans had to die at all, much less die alone with no effort made to save them.”

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely, another CCB founding member, told WND in an email that the Washington Times disclosure puts additional pressure on Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., to subpoena Clinton and other key Obama administration officials to testify soon in public before the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

“Delays by Gowdy are unnecessary at this time,” Vallely insisted. “Gowdy can press forward now as he does have sufficient intelligence and documents to call all witnesses and issue subpoenas as necessary.”

“Additional delays will only give the obstructionists in the Obama White House, the State Department and the Democrats in Congress time to thwart the efforts of the select committee,” Vallely said.
