At the time, those who were involved in the formation of the movement, decided they did not want the Tea Party to be a separate political party but instead would work with the Republican Party.
Now in 2016, the final act of this drama is coming about. What happens next and a year from now, which if these parties will be gone?
Barack Obama heads back to Washington and beginning next week, is promising an all out assault on the Second Amendment. He is going to use executive actions to try and impose forms of gun control.
The real question is, what will the Republican Party do?
The Republican Party excels at doing nothing. They are the Seinfeld of political parties. They will give the base a bunch of symbolic, meaningless votes, but when time comes to actually get something done, they cave to the Democrats.
Will the Republican Party stand up for the Second Amendment? I doubt it.
For 2016, the question becomes is the political party of conservatives going to be the Republican Party or a “Tea Party” party?

For the Republican Party to survive, it must act like a conservative party. It must nominate a conservative to run for President and it must stand up for the Constitution. If the Republican Party nominates another “electable” moderate, the Tea Party base will be done with the GOP.
If the Republican Party just caves again and shows it believes it is nothing more than the Party of the Chamber of Commerce, the base walks.
2016 is the year where the Tea Party and the Republican Party meet and in the end there can be only one survivor. If the GOP actually lives up to its alleged beliefs and nominates a conservative, like the base wants, then the Tea Party will simply go back to the GOP.
If the Establishment prevails, look for a new party in 2017 and look for the Republican Party to join the Whig Party in the museum of dead political parties.
