Fat-me-Not - The slim plate diet

From the files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio in Sacramento, California

Available on Amazon
Summer is creeping up on us. Have you looked in the mirror lately?

Are you ready to shed those sweaters for the itsy bitsy bikini?

What if you could burn that nasty fat without pills or super exercising?

Dr. Sandeep Grewal says there are fat burning foods. Along with Dr. Myo New, Dr. Grewal has finally connected the advances in weight-loss science in their book “Fat-Me-Not” weight loss diet of the future.

They say why try to lose weight the old way when powerful new research can make it simpler, easier, and safer to shed those pounds. Dr. Sandeep, board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine shared the type of diet you should create to burn fat with me on my POPPOFF Radio Show like:

EATING REAL FOOD: Whole grain food, Meat, Eggs, vegetables and fruits that promotes gut workout, spend about 35% more calories digesting and absorbing the food, and also increase the satiety and cut cravings for sweet sugary drinks. Choose the diet that allows you to eat real foods rather than protein shakes and powders.

EATING A BALANCED DIET RATHER THAN A LOW CARB, LOW FAT DIET: Different body organs need different nutrients, for example, sugar (carb) is essential for blood cells and brain cells. Without the sugar (carb) the brain will be chasing cabs and sweets. That’s how cravings begin and the discipline of dieting gets ruined. That is the reason if you want to lose fat, you need to shoot for a balanced diet for long term results. Losing weight from body water and lean body are short term. Quick fix diets will get you weight loss for a short time and then pounds come back with a vengeance.

EATING FOUR OR FIVE TIMES A DAY: Our metabolism goes down 40% if we do not eat for more than 4-6 hours. It shuts down the less essential departments of the body. If your body senses that you are a regular breakfast skipper or small lunch eater, or just one meal a day eater, it will be cutting the calories by 40% without realizing it. That’s why some obese people gain more weight without eating much. So let’s fast-pace our metabolism by eating at least 4-5 times a day in correct potions. Let the gut work hard digesting, transporting, absorbing, storing, and transforming the nutrients at the interval of approximately every 4 hours. When your gut is working hard, you know it’s burning fat too.

FOODS THAT BURN FAT: Whole grain breads and pasta, brown rice, legumes, lentils…good stable foods. Variety of colorful vegetables will give your gut a good gut work out and burn more calories. High fiber diets promote fat-me-not bacteria in the gut and promotes weight loss. Lean meat, fish, sea foods are great fat burners. For example, compare a protein shake vs a piece of lean meat with the same calories…eating meat will burn up to 40% more calories than the ready-made protein shakes and the lean meat will enhance the gut work out by chewing, digesting, absorbing, and transforming the nutrients. Coffee, pepper, and chewy veggies are good metabolism enhancers. Good fat such as avocado, nuts, egg yolks are helpful too. Drinking 8 glasses of water per day is essential to improve metabolism, and burn fat.

These are a few of the ideas explored in “Fat-Me-Not” and you can check out more at www.slimplatesystem.com.

Good luck with that itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini!

Beating Stress (part one)

From the files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio in Sacramento

Available on Amazon
No matter who you are or what you do or how hard you work or not, stress can still be killing you. And it doesn’t matter what race, creed, color or socio-economic group you belong to…even political parties…stress does not discriminate.

That’s where Jeanne Ricks comes into the picture with her book, “Biology of Beating Stress.” On POPPOFF, Jeanne explained that there are ways to beat stress by changing your environment, your body, and your brain to help you find balance and peace.

The changes that take place in your body due to stress are real and can have serious side effects. Some symptoms are easy to spot…headaches, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, or problems sleeping.

But stress can lead to major health issues including disease. So Jeanne said you can take back control with a few pointers. Here are the first five of ten.

BREATHE: You’re completely unaware of it but, the more anxious you become, the shallower and higher in the chest your breathing becomes. So change it! A couple of times during the day consciously deepen and lengthen your breath, loosening the muscles across the chest and through your abdomen, breathing deep into the stomach. Count to seven as you breathe in, and ten on the out-of-breath. Doing this several times a day helps send signals to the brain that it’s okay to relax.

SMILE: Research has shown that the easy tool of laughter can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Take a quick break to get some giggles in. Check-out a short comedy clip on YouTube to calm those jittery nerves.

WORRY: That’s right. Give into it, completely freak out, but only for a limited time. When you think something terrible will occur, commit yourself to only allowing that worry for 20 minutes. During that time think of all the possible outcomes and write down game plans, then quit thinking about it after 20 minutes. Set a timer so you keep to the time.

MAINTAIN STEADY BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS: It’s the key to stabilizing your moods. Stress throws your body completely out of whack. You might crave foods like carbs and sugar. Research shows eating sugary and processed foods can increase symptoms of anxiety. Give your body the support it needs. Eat foods that contain nutrients like Vitamin B and Omega-3s. Make sure you have a small meal or snack every 2-3 hours that contains protein like a hard-boiled egg, a small organic chicken breast, and seasoned brown rice. Studies have shown that Omega-3s help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, while Vitamin B has links with good overall mental health.

MAKE PLANS: Fend-off anxious thoughts in advance by preparing for potential pit-falls. Help yourself develop habits that will increase your productivity. Trying writing-out-a to-do list or schedule. You will easily learn how to “un-think” your anxiety, producing beliefs by being prepared even before they pop-up.

That’s a start. Next time around we’ll get to the last five stress beaters so your life can settle down. Stress is all around us, but that doesn’t mean it can control us.

Are you a Dreamweaver? Pay attention

From the Files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio in Sacramento, California

Tune in to Mary Jane Popp at PoppOff.com

We all dream. It’s mandatory even if you don’t remember what that wild and crazy dream was about. Besides, if you do remember it, it’s pretty confusing.

But Justina Lasley told me on POPPOFF that we need to pay attention to our dreams and use them as a guide. She said that dreams will never take us off course from being uniquely the person we were born to be.
Justina is Founder and Director of the Institute for Dream Studies and author of several books, her latest “Wake Up” Use your nighttime dreams to make your daytime dreams come true.

But you need to remember those dreams first, so I asked Justina for the Top Ten tips for Dream Recall.
1) BUY A DREAM JOURNAL like the one at www.DreamJournal.org to show your unconscious that you are committed. Before sleep, record the date and a brief synopsis of the day.

2) BEFORE GOING TO BED, MANIFEST YOUR INTENTION TO REMEMBER YOUR DREAMS. Put your recording materials by your bed and ask your unconscious to share a dream with you.

3) GET TO BE A LITTLE REST EARLIER THAN USUAL. Shifting your sleep schedule often helps.

4) AVOID TAKING UNNECESSARY MEDICATIONS BEFORE BED. Antihistamines and certain other medications can inhibit recall. Vitamin B6 is thought to increase recall.

5) IF YOU WAKE IN THE NIGHT, FOCUS ON ANY DREAM IMAGES YOU HAVE. Jot down a few words to jog your memory in the morning. Don’t let sleepiness talk you into believing you will remember in the morning or that images have no significance. It is easy to talk yourself out of the necessary steps for recall.

6) SOME PEOPLE FIND IT HELPFUL TO DRINK EXTRA WATER BEFORE BED. Then you might have to get up in the night, thus waking up close to a dream segment and achieving recall.

7) IF YOU HAD NO RECALL DURING THE NIGHT AND YOU CANNOT MAKE ANY CONNECTIONS TO YOUR DREAMS UPON WAKING, STAY QUIETLY IN BED. Keep your eyes closed, and imagine some of the people in your life or some settings that are familiar to you. Sometimes just after flipping through these images will stimulate a reminder of a dream.

8) UPON AWAKEING, RESUME THE SLEEPING POSITION YOU WERE IIN WHILE DREAMING. This is usually your most comfortable sleeping position. This is a very successful tool.

9) WRITE ANYTHING YOU REMEMBER…EVEN IF IT’S ONY ONE WORD, AN EMOTION, OR A PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSE. One word can sometimes lead to important information. If you awake with a song or poem in mind, write it down. Nothing is insignificant.

10) IF YOU CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING, MAKE AN ORE TO THAT EFFECT IN YOUR JOURNAL. “I do not remember anything about my dreams last night. If I had I would take time to remember it.” It is amazing how receptive your unconscious is to your true efforts.
According to Justina, once you are serious about the process, the unconscious will reward you with dream memories. You’re going to be amazed at what you have been sleeping through.

You can check out more of what dreams are all about at www.DreamSynergy.com, and you can get more understanding of dreams in “Wake Up.” Who knows, perhaps those daytime dreams will become reality!

Sweet Dreams!

New Year resolutions revisited

By Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio in Sacramento, California

Tune In to 'Poppoff Live' with Mary Jane Popp
So you made that New Year’s resolution with all good intentions. You know the one…I will lose weight and get in shape in 2015. Instead, those extra pounds you put on during the holidays are haunting you.

Want to feel more in control of your body? According to Dr. Susan Smith-Jones, author of some 27 books including “Walking on Air,” your goal should be to boost your metabolism. The control mechanism for obesity (or being overweight) is not diet, it’s muscle metabolism.

Your basal metabolic rate is the rate at which your body utilizes energy. It’s how efficiently your body burns calories. When your metabolism is higher, you burn more fat, and have an easier time losing weight (fat). She has some tips to supercharge your metabolism.

INCREASE YOUR MUSCLE MASS THROUGH STRENGTH (WEIGHT) TRAINING. For every 10 additional pounds of muscle you add to your body, you will burn approximately 500 more calories a day. Do strength training 2-3 times weekly 30-40 minutes. It will take about four months to add on 10 additional pounds of muscle, so be patient.

INCREASE YOUR AEROBIC EXERCISE. Aerobic exercise, which doesn’t make you out of breath, trains muscles to burn fat and increase metabolism. Make aerobic exercise part of your fitness program at least five days a week, if you want to lose fat. Walking is one of the best aerobic exercises.

GRAZE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. To boost your metabolism, strive to eat several small healthy meals a day…about every 3-4 hours…instead of eating 2-3 large meals.

KEEP YOUR BODY WELL-HYDRATED WITH PURIFIED WATER. Your metabolism abates whenever you’re even minimally dehydrated. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily supports fat loss. Keep in mind that alcohol, caffeinated teas, and colas all dehydrate the body. They are wet, but they are anti-water.

SLEEP YOUR WAY TO A HEALTHIER METABOLISM. Research shows that skimping on sleep interferes with your body’s ability to process carbohydrates, which can lead to elevated blood-sugar levels and an increased tendency to store calories as fat. When you’re sleep deprived, your body produces more of the stress hormone cortisol, which sets this chain reaction in motion. Get 7-8 hours nightly.

NOURISH YOUR SPIRIT. To maintain a healthy body, first nourish your spirit. Do those things daily that help you relax and feel positive about your body. When you learn to love yourself, love will come to you in forms of health, happiness, success, peace, and prosperity.

So the key here is not to beat yourself up. But do make up your mind to begin period! Stop looking at all those computer generated models and look to the best you can be. For over 35 years, Dr. Susan Smith-Jones has looked to a healthier you and she looks great! You can too.

Check out her website for great free information and monthly newsletter to encourage us all to be healthier and happier at www.SusanSmithJones.com.

No matter what your age, Susan incorporates her best-of-the-best health-enhancing secrets to reverse aging, achieve high-level wellness, and live with gusto! So go for that brass ring, grab on, and never let go! It’s your life!

Amazing predictions

Amazing predictions (part one) by Matry Jane Popp at WAHI Radio in Sacramento, California

Available on Amazon
They call him Amazing, and he is! Is he a psychic? No. Is he a Fortune Teller? No. But he has made amazing predictions for most of his life, and he shared some of what he feels will happen in 2015 when he visited my POPPOFF Radio Show just before New Year’s Day.

He is the one and only Amazing Kreskin.” And he shares his life in “Conversations with Kreskin.” Kreskin is tuned to the desires, wishes, and concerns in our society and he projects what he feels are strong trends and happenings to come like the following.

The growing interest in the Western world of séances and attempts to communicate with the dead is back, and far exceeds the public interest of the 1920’s. In the latter part of the 19th century, séances were popular with the upper middle class and the wealthy.

Television has helped spread the interest with numerous series like going to “haunted houses” and the like. This interest reflects somewhat the unease and searching of many people who feel dissatisfied that leaders and society does not have the solution to the oncoming problems. Once again, this is a predecessor of great social challenges, fears, and unrest.

There will continue to be private home break-ins at least 1 in every 5 homes. The majority will take place during the day, and will involve not one but 2 or 3 individuals. Today’s crook cases and observes the home.

Yes, there is electronic security, but the larger solution has been forgotten.” Neighborhood” when people knew each other and children could play outside. It was awareness of neighbor to neighbor.

What about strong leaders for our future, especially with all the turmoil in our government? Will they come from the U.S. Senate or Congress? Will there be anyone who will step up to the plate? Kreskin says…nobody!

He feels that in years to come, the real salvation and re-strengthening of our government will come from outside the present political system, a young person with a philosophy of the early founders of our country. Not a lawyer either. Their salary will be returned and they will give back to our country in service.

What about a comparison to historic leaders like Franklin Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan? Kreskin personally thinks the ideal individual today would be Harry S. Truman.

What about jobs? Kreskin feels a threatened profession in the months and years to come will be in the profession of teaching. Teachers become disillusioned with their work, especially those in grammar school and junior high school, and they will try to find a way to leave their job.

He thinks that a very unhealthy element threatening the profession is parents converging into principals offices, often complaining because of the failing or non passing marks of their children. And yes, there has been abuse by teachers of children…horrendous activity. But the vast majority of teacher abuse cases are found innocent, but by the end of the investigation, their reputations are permanently damaged.
There was so much more detail in his predictions, but at least we get a small sample of what he is concerned about in 2015. I will have Part II coming in my next column. In the meantime, you can check out Kreskin’s website at www.kreskin.com.
Kreskin is coming up on his 80th birthday, and his concern for our well-being continues! Happy birthday Kreskin and our hope is for many more to come!

Beautiful Holidays

Beautiful Holidays from the files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio

A Susan Smith-Jones Production
Okay, we’re into now ladies…the wonderful and yet tormenting holidays! So do you want to come out of them happy and healthy and looking good, or frustrated, overweight and afraid to look in the mirror?

I will assume the former. So I checked in with Dr. Susan Smith-Jones, who is an internationally known expert in nutrition and author of some 25 books, to give us some basics on how to handle the holidays to look and feel younger. Her latest book is “Walking on Air.” She asked me what beautiful means to me? Huh?

She told me beauty does not begin on the outside. “Beautiful is what you are made of. Beautiful people spend time discovering what they love—what sings to them---and they make time each day to fill themselves up with that beauty. Authentic beauty is an alchemy of radiant physical health and glowing self-esteem.

When one feels happy and fulfilled, their outlook and contentment is reflected in their face and overall appearance.” She added , “to combine emotional and physical nourishment is, in her estimation, the truest and most time-honored beauty secret.”

So let’s get to the Tips for Looking Younger No Matter Your Age:
EXERCISE: Regular, vigorous exercise supports healthy circulation and detoxification, with visible benefits for the skin. It also releases endorphins that makes you feel happier and less stressed. The skin takes on a rosy glow that no makeup artist could duplicate.

SLEEP: If you are not well rested, your skin will let the world know because your face will appear pale, drawn, and blemished. Sleep is when most of the body’s repair work and maintenance are completed. Thus, getting deep sleep nightly is essential for maintaining beautiful skin. While you sleep, blemishes are being healed and new skin cells regenerate.

DIET AND WATER: Emphasize lots of high water content foods in your daily diet, such as raw fresh fruits and vegetables. These foods are rich in antioxidants, which help give you glowing, youthful skin. Make sure you drink between 6-8 glasses of purified water daily, too. If you are dehydrated, as most people are day in, day out, this creates wrinkles (like how a grape turns into a raisin) and accelerates aging.

JOY-FILLED LIVING: Reveling in life’s simple pleasures at least once a day will not only keep stress and wrinkles at bay, but will also enrich your life immeasurably. For example, spending time in nature or with your pets will boost your mood. Laughter quells stress and activates the immune system. Your skin glows with joy when you put on a happy face.
I guess I liked her conclusion that choosing a healthy lifestyle will make you glow and be beautiful throughout your life. So, the secrets are really just practical application of the basics. Of course, you need to make the best of all those incredible edibles that will be dangling in front of your face smothered in chocolate and all the delectable that come with the holidays.

So, take it easy, don’t stress, and enjoy yourself…and don’t get all #$!$#!$#. Crazy and whiny doesn’t help! Take it one day at a time, and enjoy every minute of it with family and friends!

Happy and Blessed Holidays . . .  from Mary Jane Popp

Energies of Love - part two

Energies of Love, Part Two from the file of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio in Sacramento

Meet Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio
If you remember last time on POPPOFF, I shared the four “Energetic Stress Styles” that I got from Donna Eden and Dr. David Feinstein they covered in their book “The Energies of Love.” Donna is a pioneer in energy medicine and David is a clinical Psychologist. They claim they have garnered experience from their couple’s workshops that are keys to a fulfilling partnership. I promised you some practical tips to fire up that relationship, so no more talk, here they are.

HUG OFTEN. Hugs get your positive energies to intermingle and meld. Relaxing even into a six-second full-body embrace increases serotonin levels, leaving you feel closer and, if you were having a disagreement, less irritable.

GIVE YOUR PARTNER A SPINAL FLUSH. Reflex points that impact every one of your body’s major energy pathways are situated along the spine. They go into a detailed description of what to do next, but not enough time here. But it’s in the book.

SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION OF OXYTOCIN. Energy techniques can influence your hormone levels. We know sex produces oxytocin, but so can this one-minute technique. It begins by breathing slowly and deeply as you draw your hands up from your pubic bone until you get to the center of your chest.

Before you exhale, move your hands up and out toward your sides as if you were tracing a heart above and around your breasts. Slowly exhale as you being your hands back toward your pubic bone, completing the tracing of a large heart over your torso. Repeat a few times and finish by drawing your hands up the center of your chest and holding them over your heart for two breaths.

STRETCH. When you feel stale or tense, stand and imagine an invisible rope hanging down over your head. Reach up and pull it down with one hand and then the other, alternating hands for at least a minute.

HOOK UP. If you are feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner, place the middle finger of one hand on your “third eye” and the middle finger of your other on your navel. Gently press both fingers inward, pull them upward, and hold at least three deep full breaths.

SCAN FOR WHAT YOU APPRECIATE ABOUT YOUR PARTNER AND STATE IT. Often!

USE A GENTLE OPENING FOR TOUGH TOPICS. The way you bring up a delicate topic will have an immediate impact on your partner’s biochemistry and thus the energy that is activated in each of you and between you.

KEEP YOUR ENERGIES MOVING IN A CRISS-CROSS PATTERN. Under stress, your energies lose the natural cross-over configuration that supports best thinking. Place either hand on its opposite shoulder and press hard behind the shoulder with your fingers. Drag your hand over your shoulder, maintaining pressure. Continue with less pressure now, to your opposite hip. Repeat two or three times. Shift to other side.

BALANCE YOUR ENERGIES RATHER THAN BATTLING YOUR PARTNER. If tension begins to rise between you and either calls for a cease fire, you should both…by ironclad pre-agreement…stop the argument, mid-sentence if necessary. Then, immediately set about shifting your energies.

GET CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR PARTNER’S STRESS RESPONSE STYLE. Rather than judging your partner or going into a defense mode, give your partner the benefit of the doubt.

Lots to think about and all the details are in “The Energies of Love.” Check out www.theenergiesoflove.com too.

It’s a map of the invisible energies that impact a relationship!

May the LOVE be with you!

Energies of Love ~ Part one of two

Energies of Love, Part One of two from the files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI Radio

Meet Mary Jane Popp
Can energy medicine help to keep your relationship thriving? Donna Eden, a pioneer in the field of energy medicine and Clinical Psychologist Dr. David Feinstein ~ also husband and wife ~ tell us how to in “The Energies of Love” using energy medicine.

We all have different ways of making sense of the world around us so they gave me a breakdown of the different ways we make sense of that world when faced with conflict, especially with those we care about most.

We tend to revert to one of four ‘Energetic Stress Styles.’
  • VISUALS. They are extremely passionate and inspire others to care about the things they care about, but in moments of conflict. Their take on the situation can overshadow what is actually occurring, undermining their ability to empathize with their partner.
  • KINESTHETICS. They are generous, compassionate, and accepting of other people, but their caring nature pulls them in too many directions. They try to meet others’ needs at the expense of their own, which can cause mounting resentment.
  • DIGITALS. They are rational and principled and have a gift for quickly understanding complex situations, but they can become closed to others’ perspectives and feelings.
  • TONALS. They have a gift for understanding others and their dilemmas, but during moments of conflict, their ability to read between the lines can morph into hearing what was never said, felt, or thought.
A relationship begins with the meeting of two unique energies. This union of energies, though invisible, determines the way you communicate, fight, love and want to be loved.

So Donna and David drew on their experience counseling couples in their “Energies of Love” workshops, as well as their own relationships as a husband and wife team, to show how an understanding of your energy system and that of your partner can help you build a more harmonious and loving bond.

Their book provides a map of those invisible energies that impact your relationship. Besides, they told me love gives you energy, as well as zest, confidence, happiness, health and vitality.

Love puts years on your life, and as mysterious as love seems, it operates according to principles that can be understood. Did you k now that there is an inescapable dynamic that “before your bodies touch, your energies meet?”

Seems like ancient disciplines got it…like yoga, qi gong, and acupuncture as well as by contemporary physics and consciousness studies. And here’s one better. According to this dynamic couple, the practices they profess can be applied to professional, familial, and other types of relationships too. They told me that this is not just some abstract energy out in the universe.

The differences in your energetic make-up cause you to express caring in different ways from one another, to communicate differently, and to want to be appreciated differently. So, if you can begin to understand these energetic differences between you and your boss, or you and your child, or you and your best friend, those relationships can enter new dimensions of pleasure, satisfaction, and mutual support.

This gives you a brief synopsis of who you are, but next time, Donna and David will share ten practical tips with us that will get us going. Check out www.theenergiesoflove.com.

Now go analyze yourself, and I’ll check in with you in Part Two (II) of “The Energies of Love.”

You Too Can Beat Cancer

You Can Beat Cancer from the Radio Show files of Mary Jane Popp at KAHI

Click Here - You Too Can Beat Cancer
Dr. Carl Helvie is the longest known survivor of lung cancer. He is an experienced Nurse Practitioner and Nationally acclaimed author of “You Can Beat Cancer” using Alternative/Integrative Interventions.

He hosts “The Holistic Health Show.” According to the good Doctor, a new study has presented data that “Taking small amounts of aspirin over long periods of time reduces the risk of colon cancer and certain other cancers in people 50-65.

It has been found that taking aspirin for at least five years also limits mortality, along with reducing the risk of cancer.

He shared his insightful journey through the terror of cancer diagnosis and how he persevered to conquer it on my POPPOFF Radio Show.

So I asked him if he could give me his top ten tips to prevent/treat cancer.

USE THE HOLISTIC APPROACH. This involves a combination of physical, spiritual, and social support activities.

BUILD YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM. He prefers host defense made of 17 types of organic mushrooms, but other possibilities are colostrums or Beta 1.3d Glucan.

EAT ORGANIC. That includes a diet of fruit, vegetables, grains and nuts with no simple carbohydrates or protein (except AG/pro or other protein substitute) during treatment of cancer. Add minimal amounts of protein mainly from fish and poultry later in cancer treatment and after recovery.

MAINTAIN ALKALINITY IN BODY. He prefers using 2 organic lemons squeezed in water with some Stevia each morning, but other use X20 from Xooma in water to drink throughout the day, or add an alkalizing filter to your water tap.

USE SOMETHING TO KILL CANCER CELLS WHEN PRESENT.  He prefers laetrile and apricot kernels that require additional supplements such as pancreatic enzymes and zinc to facilitate the process. Others prefer high dose vitamin C, poly MVA, insulin Potentiation therapy, and other natural, alternative interventions.

USE SUPPLEMENTS DAILY. For example, vitamin D has been shown to assist in killing cancer cells and preventing cancerous cells from converting to cancer cells.

GET PHYSICAL. Exercise daily to prevent and assist in recovery from cancer.

USE SPIRITUAL INTERVENTIONS. Try prayer, meditation, serving others, and strengthening spiritual attributes of patience, forgiveness, and gratitude. Faith, optimism, and spirituality have been shown through research to have a powerful effect on recovery and longevity.

MENTAL INTERVENTIONS. Affirmation and visualization have been shown to facilitate recovery from cancer when used in conjunction with other modalities.

MAINTAIN A SUPPORT SYSTEM. Friends, family, and a higher source known to him as God to facilitate recovery from stress is a part of the cancer process, other diseases, and daily living.

Dr. Helvie has done research for some 60 years. He also served as a nursing consultant in Russia and taught at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, Germany. He is also the recipient of the 1999 Distinguished Career in Public Health Award from the American Public Health Association.

His best-selling book, “You Can Beat Cancer” is available at all the regular places and you can check out his website at www.beatcancer.net. Taking matters in your own hands gives you the power over your own life.

Stay well my friends!
