I’m not going to assess or analyze this story at all – I’ll let you decide. I just find it interesting it’s happening when so many American middle-income families can’t afford a vacation and are struggling to make ends meet.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, “In what a taxpayer watchdog group called “an unusual abuse,” President Obama’s decision over Labor Day to fly home from New York to sleep in his own bed instead of overnighting and then attending the New York wedding of his chef cost Americans $295,227.

It was just one expensive leg of a Labor Day work and fun trip with an overall price tag of $1,539,402.10 in flight expenses alone — not including security costs, food, housing or those associated with his staff. The financial details were provided to Judicial Watch by the Air Force.”

There were two lessons I learned in my twenty-two years of service in the US Army — lead by example and service above self (Officers always ate last, and if food ran out, that was your sacrifice to ensure the needs of your soldiers were met).

Leaders are there to serve, not to be served, which is a leadership model that defines a unit’s command atmosphere — and its resulting standard of performance. It also defines the policies and relationship of a leader to those her or she has been chosen to lead.

Tom Fitton, head of the DC-based watchdog group Judicial Watch has been charting presidential travel costs for years, and said Congress should look into Obama’s use of Air Force One for fun and fundraising. “The new Congress could do worse than to reform presidential travel so taxpayers aren’t gouged by candidates and campaigns benefitting from the political use of Air Force One,” he said.

America is in a truly dire fiscal situation and hard working American taxpayers are feeling the brunt of the federal government’s fiscal irresponsibility. I agree with Tom Fitton — it is indeed time for Congress to review what is “official travel” and what is charged to taxpayers.

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) refers to itself as the “conscience of the congress” and as a Member I found that self-imposed moniker oxymoronic. I know the current Chairman of the CBC, Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), and well, I find her recent comments rather disturbing.

Hat tip to Rebel Pundit who posted a piece entitled, “Congresswoman to Black Constituents: Contain your Complaining.”

Rebel Pundit writes, “During a town hall meeting at the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference (CBC), apparently fed up with complaints, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (D-OH) had some choice words for constituents.

While touting the CBC as a group who fights for constituents, Fudge spoke bluntly, accusing them of not spending enough time with their local elected officials, and said, “you need to contain your complaining.”


Here’s part of what Rep. Fudge said:

“I hope you will spend this much time with your local elected officials. I guarantee you most people in this room have not done that. With your school board, with your city council, and so then you won’t be calling me talking about somebody didn’t come and pick up your trash.

You need to call your city council person for that. And I say it that way because, I need you to understand we all have a roll to play and the Congressional Black Caucus can not do it all by ourselves. Everybody has to do their part…The Black Caucus fights for you every day. Even when you won’t fight for yourself. We fight for you.

Whether it’s immigration or education, whether it’s food stamps or housing, we fight for you everyday. So my message to you is to contain your complaining.”

What concerns me about these comments is the highbrow attitude towards constituents, but also the lack of understanding about the levels of elected representation at this meeting. That gives insight into the issue of black voter electorate education. But also, I’d like to know what exactly the CBC is doing fighting for the black community in the issue of immigration? If Obama does as he told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Foundation that he would grant amnesty to some 11 million how does that support the black community, Rep. Fudge?

And the CBC is fighting for the black community on education? Really? So where was Rep. Fudge and the CBC when Bill de Blasio targeted charter schools in New York City, namely Harlem’s Success Academy? Nah, all we heard were crickets, because we all know the CBC doesn’t take on the National Educators Association (NEA) or the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). So what alternatives is the CBC offering to the black community to the failing progressive socialist statist public schools?

When was the last time you EVER heard a member of the CBC talk about school choice, vouchers, charter schools, or home schooling?

The true nature of Rep. Fudge and her ilk, the overseers on the white liberal economic plantation, came as she chided the “Negroes” for speaking up against Massa since they’re getting those food stamps and free housing. Damn, after all these years the story remains the same, Democrats are still enslaving blacks and demand silence just because “y’all gettin’ da free food and roof.”

Can you imagine the backlash if a white Republican even hinted in saying what Rep. Fudge felt comfortable in stating? These comments are demeaning, degrading, and denigrating but sadly the black community will just take it — or be threatened by Massa white liberal that those freedom loving folks and those blacks who have escaped their economic plantation stranglehold will take away their free stuff — like cell phones and such.

Rep. Marcia Fudge owes the constituents who attended the meeting an apology. She has obviously forgotten she is a public servant, and is not called to BE served. However, she is well rewarded by the white liberal progressives who depend on her to keep those Negroes in line.

Hollywood stars: So stupid they can't think

Even in their darkest hour, Democrats can still count on one group to support them, Hollywood. The land of make believe is filled with hopelessly liberal fools who continue to give major donations to Democrat Party leaders. In recent days, Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama have benefited from lavish Hollywood fundraisers.

Last night, Barack Obama was celebrated at an extravagant fundraiser hosted by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a far left wing activist. The event featured some of the biggest names in Hollywood, such as actress Julia Roberts. Tickets cost as much as $15,000 each with the funds benefitting the Democratic National Committee.

When introducing Obama, Paltrow gushed, “I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest.” After a series of inane comments, the Obama super fan uttered her most idiotic statement, “It would be wonderful if we were able to give this man all of the power he needs to pass the things he needs to pass.”

Obviously, Paltrow does not have any understanding of American history or the basic tenets of our constitutional republic. She must want to eliminate our constitutional checks and balances and institute some sort of Obama dictatorship. It is bad enough that the President has expanded the powers of his office in relation to an “inert” Congress, but he will soon be granting amnesty via executive order to millions of illegal immigrants. This upcoming move will create economic misery and will not only circumvent Congress, but it will also violate the law.

Incredibly, the expanded executive powers of President Obama are not enough for Hollywood liberals. Paltrow seemingly wants to disband Congress, especially since the House is led by Republicans, and let Obama have ultimate power to rule over his loyal subjects, like the big Democrat Party donors in Hollywood.

The problem for Gwyneth’s dreamy scenario is the millions of hard working; patriotic Americans who have different ideas on how this country should be governed. Such freedom loving Americans are not enamored with socialism, open borders, and political correctness. To deal with such troublemakers, Paltrow may soon advocate the elimination of all elections and the placement of these irritating conservatives, who are blocking the President’s enlightened agenda, into political internment camps.

Heaven help America if the wishes of Paltrow and Hollywood are ever achieved. It would mean the end of our country as we know it and the total elimination of our cherished constitutional freedoms that are guaranteed in our Bill of Rights.

Hopefully, Paltrow was just mesmerized by Obama’s star power and not thinking clearly. In fact, she admitted her mental troubles by gushing to President Obama, “You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly.”

While the President’s good looks may be in the eye of the beholder, there is no disputing that Paltrow can’t speak or think properly. At the event, she called herself a “working mother,” who was pleased that the President pushed for equal pay for woman. Any pampered and over paid Hollywood star who equates her status to working mothers insults the millions of women in this country who are struggling to survive in the Obama economy.

The best way to help working women and all workers in America is not to institute more government rules and regulations, burdening business with equal pay requirements. Our objective needs to switch from growing the welfare state and government bureaucracy to unleashing the free market. If we would reduce needlessly high personal and corporate tax rates, it would give our economy the fuel to grow, thereby creating millions of high paying jobs. Such a plan would help all Americans, even those who can’t speak properly.
