A Call for Reform

Meet Congressman Steven Palazzo
Small Public Housing Reform Last week the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance held a hearing on the housing legislation I introduced in March of this year, H.R. 4816 the Small Public Housing Agency Opportunity Act of 2016. Furthermore I was more than pleased to welcome Mr. Alrick Young, the Executive Director of the Laurel City Housing Authority in Laurel, Mississippi, to Capitol Hill today to serve as a witness during the hearing.

I’d like to thank Mr. Young for taking time to come and testify on behalf of H.R. 4816 and for all of his hard work at the Laurel City Housing Authority. I know this was no easy task, and he represented the State of Mississippi extremely well. I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Young, our national housing associations, and my colleagues in Congress to get this legislation passed that will make the necessary changes our Small Public Housing Agencies need to be successful.

Mississippi Pecan Festival


This past weekend was the 29th annual Mississippi Pecan Festival in Richton. Nothing compares to enjoying shade from a pecan tree in Mississippi. Great weekend full of great southern music, even better food, and Mississippi tradition!

The Graduates


Congratulations to the men and women who graduated from the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute at Camp Shelby. They put in 480 hours of hard work to protect and serve our community! I want to sincerely thank them for their time and service to South Mississippi.

Those Who Bait


Good things come to those who bait! I am so proud of my son, Bennett, for catching his first bass last week. I am sure this is the first of many bass fishing stories to come.
