For the last eight years, our religious freedoms have been under attack. It’s not enough to make abortion legal -- this administration wants to force individuals, organizations and businesses to play a role in this horrific act that is wholeheartedly against their beliefs.
Last week I defended our constitutional religious freedoms and voted to put a stop to this overreaching government coercion by passing the Conscience Protection Act. Healthcare professionals shouldn’t be forced to participate in abortion procedures in any way and this bill makes sure they won’t ever be required to. It also protects our churches from having to provide health insurance plans that cover abortion.
Whether it's forcing individuals to take part in abortion or prohibiting them from praying at school that those with a liberal agenda try to attack, know that I will continue to stand up and protect our religious freedoms.

Q: What is something new you learned about Congress since you started interning?
Nick: "The legislative process is much like learning a new language; you will not completely understand the mechanics until you have lived in the region of practice. I did not understand the entire markup process on bills nor did I realize that congressional offices grant the legislative counsel office authority to write the bills they wish to introduce."
Q: What has been your most memorable experience in DC?
Nick: While there are many permanent memorials and sites to see in DC, my most memorable experiences came from non-tourist attractions such as Nathan’s hot dog eating competition and the Quicken Loan National PGA Tournament. With zealous excitement, I witnessed Joey Chestnut break the world record in the infamous Nathan’s hot dog eating competition and I also got to meet professional golfers at the Quicken Loan Tournament.
Q: What do you think other people would be surprised to know about Congress/Washington DC/the office?
Nick: The Congressman strives daily to positively impact constituents and Mississippi businesses. While many people do not see or know how much he does, I think people would be surprised to know the extent Congressman Palazzo goes to in order to help his people.
Q: Is there anything you haven’t seen yet that you would like to see before you leave?
Nick: "I want to see Thomas Jefferson’s plantation, Monticello."
Q: What are your plans after your internship?
Nick: Start my second year of law school and start my search for another legal position in DC next summer.
Q: Describe your internship experience in three words or less.
Nick: "Formidably Fantastic"
I'd like to thank Nick for his hard work this summer and wish him all the best as he heads back to the great state of Mississippi to continue law school!
Finally, I continue to keep the families of those officers killed in Baton Rouge in my thoughts and prayers.
