On this Memorial Day we honor our fallen soldiers. It’s a day dedicated to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for our country and defending our freedoms. These are the men and women who didn’t return home safely to their loved ones, the soldiers we never were able to shake hands with or properly express our gratitude for their service, commitment, and sacrifice.
It weighs heavily on me that some of my colleagues in Congress don’t understand the danger of not supporting our military. As recently as last week, Members of Congress were voting against our defense bill only to promote a certain social agenda. It’s both disappointing and saddening to me that any American would use our men and women in uniform for political purposes.
It’s a matter of life or death. The decision to send our men and women in uniform into combat is never easy or taken lightly. They proudly and nobly answer the call when we need them and it’s our job to make sure they are adequately prepared to do their job and hopefully return home safely. Sadly, some will make the ultimate sacrifice.
As you gather with friends and family this Memorial Day take a moment to remember and honor the lives of those fallen soldiers and especially the loved ones they left behind. Also, never forget to thank those who have served and those who continue to put their lives on the line each day so we may live in the greatest country on earth.
