Rush Limbaugh on 2016

Carson not equipped to be president says Limbaugh by Daniel Chaitin (@DanielChaitin7) from the aggregate news chain at The Washington Examiner

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh took part in a "lightning round" of quick reactions to candidates running for president in 2016. When asked about former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, he said he isn't convinced Carson is ready to become commander-in-chief.

Limbaugh called Carson "One of the most decent human beings in this country. One of the finest men. I've met him, and the things that he's done, places he's come from, he's just one of the most decent human beings."

Host Chris Wallace began to interject by asking if he thinks Carson is qualified to be president, but Limbaugh continued, "I cringe when I see that they are trying to destroy him. Okay, next name."

Wallace pressed him again on whether Carson is equipped to be president.

After a pause Limbaugh said, "Ben Carson equipped to be president? Probably not at this stage."

He went further by saying any of the Republicans running would be better than Democrat Hillary Clinton in the White House, and if faced with a Carson vs. Clinton contest, he would vote for Carson.

On Donald Trump, Limbaugh said the Republican front-runner is "doing a great service."

"He is showing that you do not have to fear attacks from the media. ... He is showing that you do not have to fear being politically correct or violating political correctness."

Limbaugh described Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as "brilliant ... and conservative through and through, trustworthy, strong, confident, leader, and somebody on whom you could totally depend.

He did not speak so highly of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, whom he said lacks passion.

"I don't think he really wants to do this," Limbaugh said. "It's as though people in his camp want him to do it because they want to get back in power. I just can't see Jeb with all that energy that says I need this, the country needs me, I can't wait to do this — I just don't see any of that."

When asked about Hillary Clinton, Limbaugh said, "I just think corruption."

"When I think of the Clintons, I think corruption and skirting the edges," Limbaugh added. "Don't trust them and certainly don't think the country would be in the best hands possible if either of them got back in power."
