Sources at Durango's News are implying that the EPA is blaming Colorado's government for the release of 3 million gallons of toxic sludge into the Animas Rriver because the mine is a Colorado property.
EPA authorities were said to have called the Colorado government and population a bunch of 'Boot Scootin' Redneck Mountain Climbers' who are responsible for oversight of all the abandoned mines in the state they failed to do their jobs.
Governor John Hickenlooper of Colorado declared a state of emergency on Monday, five days after a spill that sent toxic water seeping from an abandoned gold mine and turned a river orange.
The toxicity levels registered 3,500 times above the normal levels as the sludge heads toward the Grand Canyon.
